my older brothers were into computers so i grew up on doom quake and hl1, so i never wanted to play goldeneye when my friends brought it up and the halo era was even worse. i still to this day cannot believe people play fps games with controllers.

The way current styled games work with mouse look/ strafe controls are more practical, but that's not realistically how people aim weapons. The enemy death animations are still great, like shooting them in the hands, feet, arms, head, neck and watching them react. The music is still some of the best.

I recently went through every entry in Medal of Honor series (except VR and GameBoy titles), and you can't really compare the PC branch of these games to mainline console titles. >>540930092It's not really about "git gud" you just have to be competent enough with using your mind and body to be able to get the good things out of life, whether it's a video game, music or a sport, to enjoy it you have to conform to it's rules and a lot of people are too stupid to do this so they can only ever enjoy the benefits of a mouse, or the benefits of a controller, and they identify with that thing like the music they listen to or movies they watch, the only thing bad about older games that are actually good is technical issues like frame rate which can be fixed now mostly, Goldeneye's level design and unique style of fps definitely gives it something PC games at the time didn't have, it's a different type of FPS to Quake, focused on level design etc. The Multiplayer really was just a novelty time killer because there was nothing else at the time I will admit
