Even here, in Poland there are dozens of large projects in construction or already done of mass storage batteries that store solar power during the day and release in in the evening, making the daily electricity cost almost flat line instead of spiking in the evening. Solar/Wind with mass battery storage are completely viable now, the largest bottleneck currently are the electrical grids that are aged in most countries and cannot handle additional power.But yeah, even with all of that it's still required to have at least 20/30% of base stable electricity generation which is the best spot for nuclear power.
