But it seems to me that a nation made up of this kind of unbalanced “smart people” could eventually become vulnerable to emotional manipulators and jovials. Those guys could practically hypnotize them and abuse them for fun. Tryon did some of those famous experiments (up to 22 generations where the "maze-bright" and "maze-dull" rats diverged extremely noticeably) and his brighter rats were fine in the maze, they started to hate being handled tho and showed nervous behaviour there. Open spaces also made them more nervous (this is normal prey behaviour, but arguably enhanced).What Tryon's experiments might have actually showed is that selecting and breeding rats tied to a particular task (maze-solving) gets you rats that excell at that while they get nervous doing anything else. Nothing truly eugenic about that, it just proves that you have to select for more general criteria and can't just declare one task a proxy for intelligence like Tryon did.
