It's like they fell off the face of the earth about a decade ago. The surveillance state is going live, masked glowies are patrolling the streets, cash is being phased out for a digital currency. When the other wing of the bird is back in power social credit scores are on the way and deplatforming/ censorship will be back at full swing.
So where the hell are the libertarians?

The LP has never had any real power. They always just wanted to be a debating society.

I used to be active in the LP as a county-level officer in Washington state. The WA state party managed to get so many votes in one state election that they achieved "major party status" in the state, and donors lined up to help them keep it, and the stupid fucks argued so much about wat do that the donors said fuck it and kept their money. Then they got all "let's all bitch about who's a purer libertarian than everyone else!" And in the last decade they've gone full-blown socialist, between Jo Jorgensen endorsing BLM and Chase Oliver doing the gay faggot communism thing in 2024.

>>What happened to Libertarianism?
It's a political party, so it was infiltrated and subverted by CERTAIN PEOPLES. They ran Gary "where's Aleppo" Johnson and then that was the last candidate the public really ever saw from them again. Sure the lolbert clubs on college campuses were fun rebel hangout zones years ago but I would be astonished if even those were intact.
Lolberts might make a comeback after Zion Don's pro-Israel America-last platform crumbles. The left can might run someone even worse than whatever the post-Trump right floats up to the top next presidential election.
Also the Libertarian party in function was never going to "win" but the Right usually catered to them somehow because they're always scared of losing votes to the Libertarians. If the Lolberts start to gain ground ideologically it usually looks like the Republicans splitting apart.
>>
>>541003356
>So where the hell are the libertarians?
Uh, all over but extremely fragmented. You could make one of those political compass charts with just libertarians, with the "regime libertarian" Friedmanites, the dudeweedlmaos, classical liberal Misesians, and the quasi monarchist Hoppeans (dunno why I went counterclockwise there). They all think the other side of the compass aren't real libertarians and the sides adjascent to them are only barely tolerable. It's hard to organize against the regime when you can't even agree on if you actually want it gone or not.
>>

>Lolberts might make a comeback after Zion Don's pro-Israel America-last platform crumbles.
God I hope so. President Massie would be pretty lulzy. He's no Ron Paul, but he could crush any "democratic socialist" in a debate on economics, and that'd make it hilarious to watch.
>If the Lolberts start to gain ground ideologically it usually looks like the Republicans splitting apart.
Yeah, I don't think people remember how bleak things looked for the republicans after 8 years of Bush.

>run the business into the ground making a bunch of short-term profits decision
>when the business looks like it's improved for a few months just sell it off to some new sucker before all the fallout hits
I think this business model that's systematically gutting the economy might need more regulation instead of less. Maybe companies should take on the liabilities of other companies that they buy, when they buy them. This shit is like in Fallout 3 where you stuff the donation box full of money to get perfect karma and then you kill the guy to get the donation box key and steal all your money back and you still have great karma.

>debate on economics
This COULD happen but you need someone that can break complex ideas like the economy down into simple terms. Real economists can't do it because they love equations and bullshit jargon. Most politicians always just want to blame someone else, like each other or China. Rand Paul can almost do it but in "debates" you get like thirty seconds to explain shit. As standards are right now, forming coherent sentences together that make sense is like above the standard for Zion Don or Joe Biden's wife Joe Biden.
You really need to be doing something like a podcast if you're a politician intending to fix things and explain things to people, getting everyone together. But they don't do that because modern politicians always prefer to rule over morons, and familiarity breeds resentment. You want a president to look good in a suit and talk on the news for fifteen seconds, not lecture you like a professor. I suspect humans hate thinking, and equate it to labor.

It was a heavy libertarian board at the start. So no pedo jeff did not push based Nats’ism
kinda makes sense why this board was for obama when you think of it that way. Epstien would be totally partial to libertarianism knowing him too. It all checks out.

>>541003356
>What happened to the libertarians?

Infiltration and subversion by globalists and liberals who care about open borders and depravity more than individual rights or small government.

Phase 1 was the Koch brothers funding a lot of libertarian outlets like Reason magazine. The Kochs were/are (one of them is dead) open borders globalists and they care more about corporations being unregulated, no tariffs on trade and open borders for cheap labor. They refocused the party to be a corporate tool rather than a party for individuals.

From there you got the Trump Derangement Syndrome liberals infiltrating the party in 2016. You had a lot of poser liberal libertarians leave and become Democrats; but you also had a lot of libertarians just go nuts over Trump and start pretending that the Democrats aren't a fucking nightmare.
>>
>>541003356
its called censorship you fat fuck
>>
>It's like they fell off the face of the earth about a decade ago
Drowned out by trumpets. The Libertarian position is axiomatically opposed to a lot of Trump's policies, so any Republican who was calling themselves a Libertarian was forced to choose between identifying as MAGA, keeping a consistent Libertarian viewpoint, or getting called a hypocrite and bullied into one side (usually MAGA since they weren't ideologically pure enough to begin with).

Personally I went full anarchist. More accurately anarcho-socialist, since capitalist ideas of private property that can be rented out effectively requires a state to manage at any large enough scale, and the result of allowing that to happen is that those who amass such wealth in turn control the state to reduce the people's liberty. Any system with hierarchies is incompatible with liberty in the long term, therefore a permanent state of statelessness is necessary to safeguard liberty.
>>
>>541015708
>Rand Paul can almost do it but in "debates" you get like thirty seconds to explain shit.
The thing is that it all boils down to the truthiest soundbite, and "the federal reserve causes inflation by printing money" is really hard to counter in 30 seconds because the apologetics for inflation take way longer than 30 seconds to weasel their way around making a point.
>You want a president to look good in a suit and talk on the news for fifteen seconds, not lecture you like a professor.

The average voter's attention span is much shorter than the explanation for any economic or geopolitical problem. I'm thinking about Kamala and her substitute teacher-tier explanation of the Russian-Ukraine war (and that's a bad thing!). Being able to type coherent on-topic paragraphs on /pol/ puts someone at the opposite end of average.
There's one graphic I wish I had saved and it showed how representatives have voted across party lines less and less over the years. Something like pre-Civil-War tensions might be a ticket out of this mess if representatives start thinking about voting for their own geographical area instead of some party above geographic lines. As long as it doesn't escalate into a real war, which seems unlikely in a global age. Dwindling aquifers might cause this.
Generally every trend has pointed to a consolidation of power towards the executive branch. This is a hard trend to reverse, but the more that attempts are made before the center implodes, the better.

There is a notable group of libertarians these days who oppose democracy entirely. It is after all hard to argue with the idea that the monarchy the founding fathers rebelled against was less tyrannical than the current democratic government.

Rothbard more or less created modern libertarianism with his book "For a New Liberty: The Libertarian Manifesto". I'd suggest reading that before you say what is and isn't libertarian.

I dunno. If you're in the government the idea of not just using violence to get what you want is going to be alien to you. You're going to a group of career criminals and telling them that crime is bad. They're not going to be disposed to hear it. I don't think Rand Paul is as articulate or smart as his father unfortunately.
>seeing that made me realize lolbertarianism has no hope of ever being a mainstream party.
I don't think so either, but I wish it would because that debate would be so damn funny. Like imagine someone like Mamdani vs Rand Paul or Massie. Like the democratic socialist would have to just avoid using any of their favorite talking points because if they say "free stuff" the libertarian would ask how they intend to pay for it.

>Ron Paul was an Ancap btw but he didn't talk about Ancapism because people weren't ready for it yet, he has stated that he's an Anarchist though.
I don't know if you watch the Ron Paul Liberty Report, but it's really a great podcast. While he doesn't use the word "anarchist" often, he is very clear that he opposes the existence of the state. I think most successful libertarians avoid saying "anarchist" much because of the popular connotations. Like I remember Scott Horton having a guest say something like "come on we're not anarchists" and he sorta flinched but kept his mouth shut.

I don't oppose democracy per se, but authoritarian government based democracy is absolutely disastrous, people just vote their rights away for the promise of free shit that never materializes and it naturally becomes a corrupt dictatorship until it's reformed again at great expense.

You could have democracy in a NAP based society, or even monarchy, but these are ultimately lesser principles and whims of a particular preference of a particular society, ultimately societies must be based on morality, freedom, goodness, truth, beauty, which are all enshrined in the NAP, the window dressing that comes after, whether it be voluntary democracy, monarchy etc, are inconsequential and subordinate to the NAP, only when they supercede the NAP do they become a big problem, this is why all lesser principles of organization such as democracy, voting, aristocracy etc must be limited and sublimated to the core system of Libertarianism, the natural rights and private property based society.

>I don't oppose democracy per se
Read Hoppe's "Democracy: The God That Failed" or listen to the audiobook, they're both available for free through the Mises Institute. It will almost certainly change your mind. States are bad, but democracy makes them much worse. This isn't an argument for monarchy mind you, it's just an argument against democracy. Let me see if I can distill the points down enough to fit in a post here.
Public ownership of the state is no better than public ownership of anything else. The Misesian economic calculation problem of socialism applies as much to temporary non-owner caretakers of the state as it does to any other enterprise. You end up with people who gain power by promising the masses to give them the proceeds of theft, and once in power they have no ownership stake, and as such must extract wealth as quickly as possible before they are no longer in power, the long term health of the nation be damned. In a monarchy at least the monarch has the incentive to put off plundering for today that he might plunder more tomorrow, and this thinking can be extended to wanting to leave a wealthier nation to plunder for his children and grandchildren.
>Extremely based I didn't know that was their name, thanks fellow Ancap.

our movement got infiltrated by big corporate and destroyed. There's a major riff in the libertarian movement between the individual rights folks and the corporate power folks. The same philosophy we use to fight mass surveillance and structures of autonomy control are the same mechanisms the Walmart corporate folks use to advocate for a complete exoneration of their businesses that destroyed the working class economy. The libertarians that didn't swap to liberal democrat social freedom issues were forced into the Trump camp, only to be betrayed (again). We call the corporos "lolbertarians" and the anti PATRIOT Act folks have been scattered to the wind over 20 years of abuse and disillusionment

The only reason libertarianism was semi-popular to begin with is because government employees objectively suck and are lazy. No one likes them so people entertained libertarianism
Now that everyone knows why they suck (Jews are in charge and structure the government this way), and everyone knows that Jews are responsible for all other problems, it’s much more sensible to be a Nazi or right winged. Also libertarians, at least the big thinkers and biggest speakers, love Jews, even though Jews disproportionately make up bureaucrats and politicians to the nth degree. Also in charge of corporations that work with the government.

libertarians were not "republicans pretending to be independent-minded." Libertarians specifically opposed the statist Bush administration and are further right than the demo-republican single party state, as if the right-left paradigm even illustrates reality.

>I've read Hoppe, I was making a more nuanced point about non-state democratic systems in hypothetical Ancap societies.
I reread your post, it seems I initially misread it. I still suggest reading the Hoppe book about democracy if you haven't already. He really drills down in that book into why the economic incentives in a democratic system are not conducive to respect for property rights or the NAP. While of course I wouldn't suggest that advocates for and practitioners of democracy should dealt with aggressively, I do think that it is an idea which is incompatible with libertarian values and will almost certainly lead to eventual aggression on the parts of the democrats to impose the "will of the people" upon the people So while a community may form which practices democracy through a consensual contractual system in a libertarian social order, I think that eventually they would probably attack someone and need to be dealt with. Given the seemingly high risk of it I think it should be discouraged.

Also “statism” is just a buzzword made by Jews. Even libshits understand this. Some things the government should absolutely do, it’s just that these things would recede over time as society became better/more white. Libertarians are the kind of people to see their white neighbors actually get help from a white government and say shit like “leeches!”
They’re Crypto Jews. They don’t understand duty, or responsibility, or sacrifice. They would be the kind of guys to join the military for a pension, run away when they get deployed on the field, and shot in the back by the enemy. They aren’t team players by nature.

Perhaps, that's a good argument, but I would make a meta point that it shouldn't really matter because all kinds of different subsystems would be allowed under Libertarianism as long as they respect NAP, the better ones would thrive and the worse would decline and ultimately the better ones would win out in the very long run, theoretically at least, I suppose it's kind of irrelevant, I would be more than happy with a basic Libertarian society with nothing attached, but I think it's important to note that voluntary democracy wouldn't be outlawed, unless the private community agreed that there should be no voluntary democracy. Libertarianism should ultimately be strictly NAP based, but still allow some flexibility for traditions, cultures, arbitrary societal prefences etc, so long as they don't violate and supercede the NAP, but yes certainly purist Libertarians probably shouldn't spend all day advocating for voluntary democracy instead of advocating for the NAP because that would seem to be counter productive.

Rothbarditards become Marxists, Hoppefags become fascists when each realizes that individualism is in par with ancient exodus, banishment, excommunication, etc. There has never been a single blip in evolutionary human history, nor in the animal kingdom when individualism was the desired state. And no collectivist society, human or animal has been sustained without a mechanism of separating predators and prey, friend or threat. A duality often swapping roles defined by evolutionary consensus.
Lolbertarians and anti nationalist socialists cannot coherently defend against this. Everything else is just subversion.

That's highly erroneous thinking, the person who has the most resources does not always make "the best stuff" otherwise the USSR would have made the best everything because the all industries were monopolized into one department that had all the resources.

The best strategy for making "the best stuff" is decentralization, it beats centralized systems 9 times out of 10, in fact the only way a centralized system can beat a decentralized system is if it has vastly more resources, and even then the odds are stacked in the favor of the decentralized force if the resource differential isn't astronomical, centralization is putting all your eggs in one basket. Rarely necessary, commonly disastrous.

>I would make a meta point that it shouldn't really matter because all kinds of different subsystems would be allowed under Libertarianism as long as they respect NAP
agreed, but I would like to point out that allowed is not the same as liked or treated equally. I think that a democratic community would be discouraged from continuing it by being denied insurance for being too much of a risk, and their neighbors would put pressure on them to end their democratic project because being near a democracy would be considered an insurance risk. The free market has far subtler tools than the brutality of the state for dealing with problems.
>I think it's important to note that voluntary democracy wouldn't be outlawed
Nothing so brutal as outlawry, obviously. Voluntary consensual contracts and non-aggressive conduct could not be outlawed while still respecting the NAP, although of course there would also be no compulsion to do business with them or treat them equally. They might be denied service or charged higher prices for instance, as I mentioned above in the case of insurance. Private roads might not connect to democratic communities, and utilities might not serve them, and so forth.

What are you talking about? The only way they can do that is through violence, but even in wars decentralized forces are more effective than centralized forces for the same resources, you see examples of this all the time.

You've been fed lies that some bureaucrat controlling your life and attacking people is somehow effective and good, when in reality it only works when they have a gigantic monopoly on force and resources, this monopoly is not only disastrous for society and evil, it often fails and history is slowly tending away from it.
>>

>even in wars decentralized forces are more effective than centralized forces for the same resources
Not exactly true. There is actually an excellent work on military praxeology by some Polish guy that I can't remember the name of. It's worth a read.
>>541025856
>the person with the most resources can 100% crush anybody making better stuff by buying them out, or driving them into the ground.
That's not actually how it works. If a would be monopolist wants to buy out all competition he needs to continuously buy out everyone who tries to enter into the market, and if he wants to drive competition out of business he needs to drop prices below what is profitable, keep them there until the competition goes out of business, and then repeat that every single tie a new competitor tries to enter the market. The only way in which monopolies and cartels can be sustained in the long term is to have the government enforce them. That's why the most heavily regulated industries are the ones with the most vicious cartels. Take pharmaceuticals for example. The war on drugs in combination with patent laws and all sorts of other regulations which are supposedly there to protect the consumer have made it nearly impossible for small businesses to enter the market. In order to start a drug company you'd need to start out with billions of dollars already. You can't just brew up some drugs in your kitchen and sell them, that'll get the cops kicking down your door real quick.
>>
>>541026402

I don't know why you're arguing economics with a natsoc. Those nutcases think platonic ideals have real existence and are more important than individuals. Unless you are willing to get into the weeds on very basic philosophy with a natsoc you're not going to make any progress with them. Watch this, I'll see if I can poke him into sperging out about it:
>>541026601
Nations and races don't have real existence. They're abstractions which are only useful because the human brain cannot easily conceptualize large numbers of individual people at once. A race or nation cannot really do something or have any specific characteristic, this is merely a way of describing the acts of individuals within that group who are in reality acting independently. It is only our belief that they are acting as part of a group that makes us attribute their actions to that group. Consequently any disparity between nations which have a majority of their population from a certain race cannot be explained by differences between those races, which are not real things in and of themselves. Instead they are purely attributable to the individuals and their actions who are being described by the abstractions of nations and races.

The kind of hate that creates feet swinging from trees and gas-chambers. 75% of psychotherapists are feminist women that prescribe medication. They are not allowed to, but they write scripts anyway. Men cannot trust modern medicine.

Whoever has authority over women has responsibility for them. Church, government, college, single-mother, whatever.

I find it very easy to debate all kinds of statists these days, it's like their position has collapsed, all you have to do is ignore and cut through all the ideology (it's all bullshit anyway), and debate one simple concrete issue with them that can be easily proved, then their position immediately collapses because it doesn't make any sense and they give up, it almost always works, I think statists have become cognitively impaired or something, or just suddenly lost all faith in statism, you can tell they don't really buy into it as much anymore, the zest has gone. Even the few good faith ones you can tell know it doesn't really make too much sense.

Only if you want a democratic libertarian society, which presupposes the existence of a state which most modern libertarians reject. In an anarcho-capitalist society the existence of non-contributing or even dangerous people is an external matter, just keep them off your property and out of your town by force if necessary.
>>541027314
You seem to be conflating the notion of something being a social construct with it being imaginary or fake. The symbolic representation of the concept of time in our minds is not the same thing as time as it exists in physics, it merely represents it, but nonetheless time exists independent of our minds. Races and nations do not exist independent of human conceptions of them.
>>541027496
Gender and species are interesting cases in that they are social constructs which represent real and persistent patterns but those patterns lack existence independent of their individual members. There is no platonic cow, but we can definitely ascertain that there are characteristics of cowness and that cows are those creatures which can reproduce with other cows. That does not mean that the existence of the cow species is not an abstraction. The characteristics which make a cow able to reproduce with cows but not with pigeons are inherent to cows, but only individual cows, not a great cow spirit in a realm of platonic ideals.
>>541027602
I don't think it is easy to do that with natsocs, at least not the relatively intelligent ones. Look at what he's saying, that platonic ideals have real existence, that the will of a strong leader can overcome the economic reality that socialist planning cannot efficiently allocate resources, that there is some mystical race ghost which makes freedom not work for other races. You aren't going to convince the smarter ones because they tend to have a relatively internally consistent worldview, it's just not consistent with external reality.
>>
>>541027759
You can have a smart guy as your dictator it still doesn't make dictatorship a better system, objectively totalitarianism and high regulation is worse than voluntarism as I've proved with real world examples.

>oh you notice patterns and differences n races? well that's just your mind tricking you
I notice that you're not engaging with my actual argument here, which isn't that patterns and differences don't exist, it's that the races don't exist. There is no gene or combination of genes which accounts for any one race to the exclusion of all others, and even if there were, that would be a shared property of a large number of individuals, not evidence of the existence of an overarching racial entity. You're noticing patterns, but the patterns are all there are, there is no underlying substrate to attach them to.

Patterns and differences stem from racial differences. In the same way I can observe and measure differences in animals I can also observe and measure differences in races.
