>>541033688right, there's not much of a point to add amenities or decorations when there's no apparent benefit other than signaling status. it's not like tenements or section 8 housing is much more attractive, and when it is that's because there's government investment to add extraneous shit to add jobs, boost the economy, and promote a sense of national pride by "beautifying" your surroundings.it's ugly but it's cost effective for minimal investment and maximum occupancy. you also can't forget that minimalism shit is hard for people to throw fits about. if you make any sort of statement with your architecture someone will cause a fuss just to do so. minimalist design is also far easier to keep clean, requires less repair/is somewhat timeless in the sense a minimalist building from the 60s will be suitably minimalist in the 90s rather than needing updates, and there are no high profile names attached that want to generate goodwill for their business by making it pretty or superfluously meaningful. these aren't build by philanthropists.
