Talking about giving money to teachers wanting to ban data centers and bitching about Israel in a governors race (governors have almost no impact on foreign policy) what was the appeal.As a right winger I fucking hate teachers more then almost anything. Not directly, mind you, but you "'donate" all the money to a "charitable organization" that you control and pays you a high salary to run it. Yeah, a significant amount has to get spent of charity to appease the IRS, but there's still plenty of cash in the piggy bank that gets to go in your own pocket.You can turn that "charitable spending" into more cash by using it to promote "social causes." Causes that require you to go around the country and give talks to raise your profile and sell merch and new-age financial scams like shitcoins.Or, you dump the money into a PAC, that you control, and go off and do "political advocacy" in really nice vacation spots. That isn't a direct payment into your pocket, but you get to offload your typical vacation and recreation budget onto the PAC and keep your normal income to invest into actual appreciating assets. There's lots of money to be made in politics, you just have to be a bit circuitous about the payouts.
