>>
>>541070028
Never buy a sailboat, especially one that old.. to quote some shitty cartoon (can't remember which one) what it's like to own a boat? Stand under a cold shower and rip up $100 bills. Absolutely accurate

>>
>>541070028
Is it fibreglass? Looks like it
Very old fibreglass boats are often quite good, because the fibreglass in the 70s was made thick and solid instead of laminated with honeycomb
That's still worrying cheap, but it's worth a shot. I think you should buy it
>>
>>541070028
if you ask "should I buy it" on a boat you shouldnt

in the first month with rent prices
>>
>>541070028
It might be decent enough to get you out to sea so you can board and seize a better boat. I'd move quickly, at that price it's probably close to sinking at dock.
>>
>>541073497
there was pirateanon back in 2015 posted about sailing from san fran to manila on a $1k 1970 20ft sail boat that he originally lived in the sf marina

I hope you're a trust fund kid
>>
>>541070028
If it flies, fukcs or floats, rent it.
>>
>>541070028
Two best days of boat ownership are typically the day you buy it and the day you sell it but thirty feet for that price?
Youd be stupid not to.
>>
>>541073785
For the low price of 1.5 op could be a was too.
Can't imagine the kind of coin you'd have to sink into an old boat to do a trip like that these days. Considering a canoe costs more.

Boats are fun. But it do cost a lot of money. $1500 is very cheap but maintaining it is costly. Probably why the seller sells it also because the cost of it is too high.
Boat looks good but def need som love and care.

That being said, nothing is like being on the ocean.
If you do plan to become a pirate, nothing make a stronger statement than a turquoise sailboat. It shows that even though you are a dangerous pirate, you are able to look away from negative energy and at the same time show emotional stability, and inner serenity.

>30’ boat

It is a miracle that thing is floating. You’ll spend 10-20 in repairs at a minimum. Don’t be retarded. Go talk to people who actually know boats on sailing forums. You’re asking broke autistic guys on 4chan.

>>541074108

>You're not gonna make it
retards in the 1400s who thought the earth was flat circumnavigated the globe in wooden ships that were infested with rats and roaches I think it's possible to make it ~3000miles in a much more modern vessel?

Ancient boat builders mixed rendered animal fats, including whale fat or whale oil, with pine resin, pitch, or tar to create a waterproof paste. This sticky seal was smeared over seams and wood planks to block water leaks.

Even if it was Co-60 or something itd be a non issue

Sorry to break it to you but there's niggers committing crimes out on the ocean. The only escape is space but they'll probably figure out how to ruin that one day too.
>>
>>541070028

pay for the haul out, check the thru-hulls and make sure the bilge pump and engine runs. Pay the extra money to buy a boat that's ready to go as it's infinitely cheaper than getting a fixer upper..

Pearsons are nice btw:) Similar to cape dory 28's

Pay for a marine survey and expect to oay 4x the selling price on repairs and upgrades in the first year. At least a quarter of the selling price in maintenance every year after. Are you planning on anchoring out or getting a slip?
>>
>>541076394
you can't expect OP to know about the boat HOAs
>>
>>541075921
>sails never break down
Sails can get ripped by the wind if it blows too strong, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about.
>>
>>541070028
and don't forget about 'the implication'
>>
>>541070028
1.) To get it insured you'll probably have to get all the rigging replaced. That will cost $4K to $8K.
2.) Most marinas do not allow liveaboards.
3.) There are so many more expenses you won't even realize until it's too late.

If you have $20K to spend and you get a survey done and it comes back clean, go for it. If you think you can get a fully functioning ready to go sailboat for $1K you are silly.

Any anon actually live full time on a boat? I've been tossing around the idea of buying a floating junker and just paying marina fees instead of rent. How feasible is this? Florida anon, btw.
