Is there any way we can help Russia move away from a dictatorial rule of fear? Like, I have (or had, they haven't been online in a good while, might have gotten conscripted) Russian friendsLike, what can we actually do when the war ends? It doesn't sit right with me that they're living under fear of being "removed" just for voicing an opinion, disobeying the party or whateverThe older generation there is so militant that idfk what to do, it's like they're stuck in some weird paranoid mental state where they think everyone is out to get them :/ I want to help them but it'd just get labeled as "foreign interference" and shut down
I believe that ship has already sailed - in the foreseeable future it will be very difficult to change anything about Russia's political regime or Moscow's clash of interests with the West. Unless the conflict gets resolved in a mutually acceptable way (which it cannot), the relations between EU and Russia are going to continue being ridden with mutual distrust and confrontation. Which is a shame, because it did not have to be this way - there was quite a wide window of opportunity in the 90's when the West could have easily pulled Russia into its sphere of influence without much effort and at a very low cost. After the collapse of the USSR Russia was pretty much a defeated country suffering from an ideological void and was ready to accept just about anything the West would offer. And it did do that for almost two whole decades, basically thinking that doing everything the West did would give it security and prosperity. All the West really had to do was accept Russia into the western club, give some economic assistance and it would have been in the beg - Russia would have been fully dominated by Western capitol, ideology and political direction. Russia could have been transformed into the most staunch adversary of China as well, thus not only ridding Beijing of cheap resources, but also receiving a giant buffer state right next to it, seeking to curtail their ambitions. Instead, the West did the exact opposite and for some reason ruled that Russia is completely defeated for good and should not be offered any good will because it has no choice but to accept whatever the victor demands. And thus, they practically forced Moscow to turn away from Western values and seek other partners. Of course, Westerners had zero obligations to help Russia, but it was pretty short-sighted to have missed such an opportunity and basically push Russia into China's full embrace. They could have had all of Russia for virtually peanuts, but instead decided to make an adversary out of it.

>>541094701why don’t you pressure suadis or china to move away from the goverment models?
>>541094701>might have gotten conscriptedUnless they're 18 and doing military service there is no conscription in Russia, my concern trolling friend.

>>541094701forcing to make other countries as irrelevant and powerless as Sweden is not going to work. Not everyone wants to become an American bitch for some extra dollars per capita. Not every country was a Nazi scum and lost, but needs to pretend it won. Dollars will run out, American strategy will change, and your country will be ruined forever as it should have been long time ago. While russia will keep being russia. The most sustainable government model is an independent one.
>>541094701No, the nation has always required a centralized authority to function. It’s huge and full of disparate groups that need a feudal relationship to keep together
