>In another 5 regions, men began to be detained for forced mobilization

>Forced mobilization is gaining momentum in Russia.New cases of detention of men with subsequent sending to war against Ukraine were recorded in Udmurtia, Krasnodar Territory, Arkhangelsk Region, Jewish Autonomous Region and Buryatia, reports the “Walk through the Forest” project. In total, from August 10 to August 18, human rights activists received 14 appeals from relatives of victims. Men were taken from the street, from work and after being detained by the police. One was caught leaving a store, the other while returning from an alumni meeting, the third was taken to the department supposedly for a document check.

>In Izhevsk, a man was detained on the street on August 10 and taken to the military registration and enlistment office. Three days later he was already being taken to a military unit in the Rostov region. In another case in Udmurtia, relatives were unable to prevent a man from being sent to the Donetsk region, registered with a psychiatrist: the corresponding insert disappeared from his military ID, after which he was deregistered and forced to sign a contract.

>In Novorossiysk, the detainee was beaten at the police department and, according to his sister, they planted drugs on him, and then they asked him to choose between a criminal case with a term of up to 20 years and being sent to war. As a result, he signed a contract and was taken to a military unit.

>In the Arkhangelsk region, a man was detained for drinking alcohol in a public place. The next day, relatives learned that he had signed a contract and was being prepared to be sent to war.

>A similar situation occurred with a 62-year-old man with illnesses and reservations from mobilization, received at work. According to his relatives, after his arrest, within a few hours they issued him a passport and a military ID so as not to let him go home to get documents, and he was taken to Crimea.

>Also, forced mobilization continues in Omsk.Human rights activists reported at least two new cases. One man was taken straight from work and held in the department. As a result, according to relatives, the police signed the contract for him. Another was stopped near a store by people in civilian clothes under the pretext of a drug test, after which he was sent for a medical examination. The man claimed that he did not sign the contract, however, he was still taken from the region.

>Previously, forced mobilization was reported in Penza and Ulyanovsk. “Go through the woods” advises relatives of detainees to find out their whereabouts as quickly as possible and check the documents they signed. The project also recommends recording the circumstances of the arrest, the names of employees, calls and correspondence and seek help before sending a person to another region or military unit.

>Russians' faith in the country's future has collapsed to levels seen in the early 1990s.

>The protracted war, the deteriorating situation in the economy, and daily drone strikes burning oil refineries and warehouses from Moscow to the Urals have shaken Russians’ faith in the country’s happy future.

>In July 2026, 66% of citizens believed that “difficult times” lie ahead for Russia, a survey by the state-run VTsIOM showed. Since the beginning of the year, the expected difficulties for the country in the future have increased by a third (+ 16 percentage points).

>As a result, the level of pessimism and fear of the future in society has reached one of the highest levels in the entire modern history of the country. According to VTsIOM data (.xls), approximately only (66-67%) expected “hard times” in 1991, a few months before the collapse of the USSR, and 1992, when the Union collapsed and people faced mass impoverishment and hyperinflation of 2500%.

>Even in the mid-1990s, despite the economic crisis, people were less afraid of the future, than now: then, in different years, 46-60% spoke about upcoming “difficult times”. Only once was the share of pessimists among Russians higher - 72% in April 2020, when the Covid pandemic began, the first lockdowns hit the economy, and a vaccine for the virus had not yet been developed.

>Long-range strikes of Ukraine, which provoked a fuel crisis in Russia and burned down more than 20 Wildberries warehouses, obviously have an impact on the psyche of Russians, especially in large cities, notes John Lowe, senior researcher at the NEST Center.

>More and more people are wondering why this war is needed, Lowe emphasizes: “As the number of attacks has increased over the past nine to twelve months, many have realized that this is a long war with no way out anytime soon.”

>The paradox of the situation is that Vladimir Putin came to power a quarter of a century ago on promises of security, a quiet life without explosions and murders, but it was precisely this security that Putin completely destroyed, notes political scientist Abbas Gallyamov.

>“In today’s Russia, no one can feel safe—not a general who went to a restaurant to celebrate his anniversary; nor the resort person who finally made it to the beach in Gelendzhik; nor a resident of the Moscow region, sleeping peacefully in his bed during a nighttime drone attack; nor a Wildberries warehouse worker,” explains Gallyamov.

>Rosneft Bank discovered a “hole in its balance sheet” and an increase in non-payments on loans by 1700%

>Moscow Credit Bank, closely associated with Rosneft, is facing a growing wave of loan defaults, according to its reporting indicators published by banki.ru.

>As of July, the bank, which is among the top 10 in terms of asset size and has the status of systemically important, 14.8% of all issued loans were overdue - 5 times higher than the average level for the banking system. In total, clients did not return 277 billion rubles to MKB on time.

>“MCB has a hole in its balance sheet,” write InvestFuture analysts. According to reports, over the past year, the volume of non-performing loans at the bank increased by 1716%. The first problems arose last summer: from August to December, the volume of “overdue payments” increased 11 times, from 15 to 160 billion rubles. During January–July of this year, bad debts increased by another 1.7 times (+ 117 billion rubles). Founded by billionaire Roman Avdeev, MKB moved into the orbit of Rosneft in 2017, when it found itself on the verge of bankruptcy along with other Moscow Ring banks - FC Otkritie, Binbank and Promsvyazbank. Rosneft de facto saved the bank by pouring money into its capital and placing long-term deposits for the period of 2066. The company also transferred reverse repo transactions worth hundreds of billions of rubles to MKB, with which it financed its operations.

>It is unclear who exactly did not repay the MKB loans in 2025. According to the Central Bank, in recent months companies in the metallurgical and coal industries have experienced difficulties with debts, as well as the construction and real estate sector - they asked banks to restructure loans that they could not cope with.

>Russians are now required to insure their mortgages against the risk of drone strikes

>Russian banks began to require citizens to take out insurance against the risks of drone strikes on real estate, issued under mortgage agreements, the head of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSU) Evgeny Ufimtsev told Kommersant. According to Polis.online CEO Andrey Kreer, we are still talking about “spot practice” of large organizations such as Sberbank, VTB, PSB, Gazprombank and Dom.RF, as well as some regional banks “in border and vulnerable regions.”

>When applying for a mortgage, banks check whether the policy contains coverage for the risk of aircraft, their fragments and other objects falling onto the insured house or apartment, SberStrakhovanie said. The head of Polis.online notes that there is now an increase in demand from clients and platform users for property insurance for individuals specifically with the risk of drone attacks. The number of such requests has grown more than 10-fold over the past year, he said. According to Elena Safonova, vice-president of Renaissance Insurance, the cost of insurance with the addition of such risk will most likely increase, and a number of insurers may exclude certain regions from insurance coverage.

>According to Kreer, mortgage insurance with an extension to UAV will cost 10-20% more than a standard policy. At the same time, in the regions bordering Ukraine there are increasing coefficients, and in some cases there are bans on transactions.

>In a large Moscow chain of city cafes, interruptions in food supplies began due to UAV strikes on warehouses

>While President Vladimir Putin claims there are no “critical” consequences for the economy due to the Ukrainian Armed Forces strikes, entrepreneurs are beginning to experience interruptions in the supply of necessary products. Employees of the famous metropolitan chain of city cafes “The Karavaev Brothers”, which have more than 70 locations throughout Moscow, told the Post- publication about problems with receiving goods after UAV attacks on a logistics hub in the Moscow region, which completely burned out along with goods worth almost 80 billion rubles.

>“We have warehouses near Podolsk in Koledino - right a couple of hundred meters from the Wildberries warehouses, and, as they say, we were also affected, so since the weekend almost nothing has been delivered. Supplies have been greatly reduced,” network workers said. According to them, this affected the purchase of both finished products and semi-finished products for the Karavaev Brothers, one of the country’s largest fast casual and free flow catering chains. The time frame for restoring supplies is not yet known. Judging by photographs from several cafes of the chain, some of the counters are indeed noticeably empty, first of all, the range of cooking and baking products has been reduced.

>Since 2023, the Karavaev Brothers canteen chain has been owned by the Neftmagistral fuel company, which owns more than 100 gas stations. Against the backdrop of the “second wave” of the fuel crisis that has hit Russia, gasoline has recently begun to disappear at the company’s stations, despite a sharp increase in selling prices.

>Putin was warned about the exhaustion of almost all resources of the economy and was offered to restart growth using the money of Russians

>The Russian economy has come to almost complete exhaustion of the resources that allowed it to show growth in recent years. To this conclusion in the report, prepared for the meeting of the Presidential Council on Strategic Development and National Projects, came analysts from the Third Rome Center for Intersectoral Expertise, the scientific director of which is Vladimir Putin’s adviser on economics Maxim Oreshkin (the document is quoted by Expert, RBC and The Bell).

>In the early 2000s, the economy grew by 6-7% per year, after 2008 the rate slowed to 2%, the military boom after the invasion of Ukraine briefly accelerated GDP to 4% growth, but now the rate has dropped to 1% last year and even lower this year.

>Megaprojects based on budgetary injections import substitution and the involvement of workers in the labor market - all these factors have reached their limit, according to Third Rome analysts. Although since 2018, Vladimir Putin has been demanding economic growth in national projects no slower than the global one (3% per year), it has not been possible to achieve it. The economic growth potential in the country is now only 1.6% annually, marks the "Third Rome". This is almost 1.5 times slower than the US economy (2.3% this year, according to IMF estimates), almost half the growth of the global economy (3%), almost three times less than China (4.6%), and four times worse than India (6.4%).

>There are practically no free workers left in Russia, and demand cannot be endlessly fed by the state, emphasizes the "Third Rome". To restart growth, according to the center, it is necessary to move from the public investment model to the use of private savings, creating conditions for the population and business to invest in the economy.

>“There is money in the country. We need to build a mechanism that turns savings into long-term investment capital,”- says the report. So far, investments in Russia are rapidly declining: last year, according to Rosstat, they fell by 2.3% - for the first time since 2020. And in the first quarter of this year, the decline accelerated to a collapse of 14.3%, a record for 16 years.

>Compensating for failure at the expense of the budget is becoming increasingly difficult. Since the beginning of the war, its accumulated deficit has reached 22 trillion rubles. By 2029, within the framework of the Oreshkin Center’s program, the treasury must be brought to a state of zero structural deficit, and the budget impulse must be reduced. Instead, the economy needs a slowdown in inflation, lower interest rates, increased private investment activity, believes the "Third Rome".

>In addition, the center’s analysts propose developing domestic tourism, AI and automation, accelerating the platformization of the economy, increasing investments in data centers, and rebuilding the personnel training system so that education and updating competencies are continuous. It also requires whitewashing the economy, with the flow of labor and capital away from opaque and low-productivity companies to more efficient ones, the report says.

>Oil Refinery and Enemy Oil Terminal Hit

>On August 19 and during the night of August 20, 2026, units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces struck a number of important enemy facilities.

>In particular, the TANECO oil refinery in Nizhnekamsk, Republic of Tatarstan, Russia, was hit. A strike was recorded, followed by a fire on the facility’s premises.

>TANECO can process up to 16 million tonnes of crude oil per year. It produces a wide range of petroleum products, including motor fuels and other refined products. The facility is involved in supplying the enemy’s military.

>In addition, the Tamanneftegaz oil terminal in Volna, Krasnodar Krai, Russia, was hit. A fire was reported on the facility’s premises.

>Tamanneftegaz is one of Russia’s key oil terminals in the Black Sea region. The capacity of the Taman transshipment complex allows it to handle up to 19.9 million tonnes of crude oil, petroleum products, and liquefied hydrocarbon gases per year. The terminal facilitates the transfer of crude oil and petroleum products from rail transport to maritime vessels. It supports the logistical and fuel needs of the Russian military.

>The extent of the damage is still being assessed.

>Following the fuel shortage in Russia, there is a shortage of motor oils

>Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries led not only to a fuel crisis, but also to a shortage of motor oils, market participants told Kommersant. Over the past two months, prices for lubricants have increased by 1.5–2 times, and delivery times have increased from two days to two weeks, said Vladimir Andreev, a representative of the Fresh marketplace. He clarified that the company purchases oil from Russian producers in 200-liter barrels. “There are no separate items of popular oils at all - we buy from intermediaries, which the manufacturers managed to ship earlier,” he added.

>The shortage of domestic oils is associated with unscheduled repairs at refineries and restrictions on certain types of raw materials, for example, for coolants, Kommersant’s interlocutors explained. In particular, Russian manufacturers lack the necessary imported additives. “The base [for oils] has always been made in reserve within the country, and additives are usually brought from abroad,” Andreev explained. Import supplies are mainly affected by the situation around the Strait of Hormuz, said Tatyana Ovchinnikova, director of the Fit Service car service network. According to her, because due to logistical problems, certain oils periodically disappear from sale.

>At the same time, there is a shortage of imported products, especially the premium line - Shell, Castrol, BMW and VAG, says Yulia Trushkova, director of service at Rolf. At the same time, difficulties in the fuel market are contributing to an increase in demand for oils. When using Euro-2 and Euro-3 gasoline with a high sulfur content, it is necessary to change the oil 1.5–2 times more often, noted Dmitry Prokofiev, NEFT Research director for external communications.

So no longer globohomo, but back to Nazi Jews?
No. That is a binary proposition. Ukraine can be Nazis OR they can be Jews. Not both.
Jews can be ultranationalist and fascist, but not Nazis by any coherent definition. Being a Nazi Jew also defies the definition of a Nazi and is incoherent.
The only option is total Russian death

Russian authorities have begun auditing the domestic sales of assets by exiting foreign firms, filing retroactive financial demands against Russian buyers to recoup perceived shortfalls in mandatory state budget contributions.
In a widening legal campaign initially reported by the Kommersant daily, the Moscow Prosecutor's Office is demanding 414.53 million rubles from GS Investments, a firm tied to the family of Russian billionaire and former Chelyabinsk Pipe Rolling Plant shareholder Andrey Komarov. The lawsuit was filed in the Moscow Arbitration Court in the interests of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, with the Finance Ministry and the Accounts Chamber involved as third parties. A preliminary hearing for the case has been scheduled for Sept. 29.
In late 2022, GS Investments purchased the Russian operations of Swiss packaging manufacturer Amcor—which included a plant in St. Petersburg and two in Novgorod—for 370 million euros, excluding debt and cash. The holding is currently owned by Lidiya Komarova, reportedly the businessman's mother.
While court documents do not disclose the precise nature of the claims, legal analysts point out that the requested sum represents less than 2% of the total deal value. This indicates the dispute is likely tied to a retroactive recalculation of the mandatory "voluntary contribution" exit tax levied on foreign businesses, with prosecutors potentially scrutinizing the valuation or structure of the original deal.
The action against GS Investments follows a similarly structured lawsuit in St. Petersburg, where prosecutors are seeking 1.81 billion rubles from Ilim Global Timber Rus. That firm previously acquired a 50% stake in the Ilim forestry group from U.S.-based International Paper in a deal that triggered a dispute over exchange rate discrepancies when calculating the state budget contribution. Analysts anticipate this sequence of lawsuits signals a systematic, retroactive review of previously closed foreign asset transfers.

A historic flight to cash is sweeping through Russia’s largest financial institutions, driven by deepening public anxiety over potential state asset seizures and escalating wartime volatility.
In a liquidity drain unseen since the immediate aftermath of the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, Russians have pulled 2.4 trillion rubles (approximately $24.7 billion) from the domestic banking system since the start of 2026. The exodus accelerated sharply in July, hitting an absolute monthly record of 643 billion rubles.
According to aggregated banking data, the bank run has impacted five of the seven Russian lenders that hold retail portfolios exceeding 1 trillion rubles. Gazprombank PJSC led the sector in absolute losses, seeing retail clients withdraw 299.5 billion rubles—nearly 11% of its total deposits—between March and July. State-owned agricultural lender Rosselkhozbank shed over 15% of its deposit base, equating to 270.5 billion rubles, while Alfa-Bank, the country’s largest private lender, lost 179.4 billion rubles.
Even the sector’s titans have not been immune. Sberbank PJSC initially saw deposit growth but suffered consecutive outflows of 211.6 billion rubles in June and 31.8 billion in July. T-Bank emerged as the sole major outlier, expanding its retail deposit base by 193 billion rubles (6.9%) during the same period.
The unprecedented withdrawal rate, which routinely surpasses half a trillion rubles a month, is creating acute liquidity mismatches for lenders who tied up capital in less liquid assets. "They didn't expect this," a former Russian financial official told The Washington Post. "They invested this cash somewhere, and now people are coming and withdrawing half a trillion a month."

Analysts attribute the capital flight to structural fears rather than purely economic drivers. Intensifying drone strikes and intermittent internet blackouts have catalyzed a desire for physical currency[э, compounded by rumors of wartime deposit nationalization. While an outright seizure of retail deposits remains unlikely, capital controls or withdrawal limits are a tangible risk, according to Alexandra Prokopenko, a fellow at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center in Berlin. “This is a consequence of the fear that the state will do something with the banking system," Prokopenko noted.

So what exactly is the plan for after they win? Do you think Russia will just forget that you helped America wage a proxy war against them? Do you think relations will go back to pre-2014 and all will be forgiven?

Russian President Vladimir Putin hosted Myanmar’s leader Min Aung Hlaing for extensive talks at the Kremlin on Tuesday, yielding new agreements aimed at deepening economic ties and circumventing Western financial sanctions.
Following the three-hour negotiations, Russian Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov announced that Russia's domestic "Mir" payment cards are now fully operational within Myanmar. "Mir cards are accepted in Myanmar. And in general, the problem with payments is solved," Reshetnikov stated, according to the state news agency TASS. Transactions will be converted directly between rubles and the Myanmar kyat using the official online rate of the Central Bank of Myanmar.
During the talks, Putin emphasized the necessity of expanding bilateral trade. "Undoubtedly, we need to work on the economic track. There is a good foundation here, there are good projects," Putin said, as quoted by RIA Novosti. Underscoring this shift away from Western financial systems, Putin noted that two-thirds of commercial transactions between Moscow and Naypyidaw are already conducted in national currencies.
The August 18 meeting marked Min Aung Hlaing's first visit to Moscow since assuming the title of President in April 2026. Beyond the payment system rollout, the two leaders signed 12 new cooperation agreements. These pacts outline ambitious joint projects, including the construction of small nuclear power plants, oil refineries, and a Russian Orthodox church in Myanmar's largest city, Yangon.
The financial and infrastructural integration builds on earlier efforts to stimulate tourism and cooperation between the two internationally isolated nations, such as a mutual 30-day visa-free travel regime established on Oct. 28, 2025.

A Greek-owned bulk carrier caught fire following a drone attack in the Black Sea, marking the second strike on a Greek-managed vessel near the Russian port of Novorossiysk within a 24-hour period.
The Liberia-flagged bulker Anna S, managed by Athens-based Neptune Tradebulk Inc., was struck by five drones on Monday approximately 20 nautical miles (37 kilometers) off the coast of Novorossiysk. The vessel was empty and en route to the port to load Russian grain when the attack occurred, sparking a massive fire that severely damaged the ship. All 21 crew members—a Romanian captain and 20 Filipino sailors—abandoned the vessel and were rescued uninjured by another commercial cargo ship, the Elina B.
The strike on the Anna S followed a Sunday drone attack on the Greek-managed Suezmax tanker Skiros. The tanker was targeted shortly after loading approximately 1 million barrels of crude oil at the Caspian Pipeline Consortium (CPC) terminal near Novorossiysk. While the CPC primarily handles Kazakh oil, industry sources confirmed the Skiros was carrying oil of Russian origin. A fire broke out on the bridge but was swiftly extinguished by the crew, with no injuries or oil spills reported.
The incidents are part of a broader escalation targeting Russian logistics in the Black Sea. According to maritime security sources and recent Bloomberg reports, at least five grain vessels have been targeted near Novorossiysk and Tuapse this week. Among those targeted was the rescue ship Elina B, which was struck by two drones just hours after picking up the crew of the Anna S. The Elina B remained operational and continued its voyage toward Turkey.

This resurgence of strikes follows an apparent operational pause. In late July, the Financial Times reported that U.S. officials had requested Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy halt attacks on tankers near Novorossiysk to avoid threatening global supplies of Kazakh oil exported through the CPC. Kyiv reportedly agreed to spare non-Russian vessels and infrastructure, provided the ships were not carrying Russian cargo and were not subject to Ukrainian sanctions.

A Russian missile strike on a bustling village centre in northeastern Ukraine has killed at least 10 people and injured 18 others, regional authorities report.
Two projectiles struck the heart of Pechenihy, a settlement in the Kharkiv region, at approximately 08:40 local time on Tuesday. Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, said the attack devastated a crowded intersection, igniting a massive 400-square-metre blaze that engulfed a local cafe and several vehicles. Ten private residences, a post office, and five shops were also severely damaged in the blast.
While emergency services have now concluded rescue operations, Mr. Syniehubov noted that the remains of some victims were so severely disfigured that DNA testing will be required for formal identification.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned the attack on a purely civilian area, vowing a "kinetic response" while urging Western allies to intensify diplomatic and economic pressure on Moscow. "They struck a crowded intersection where a post office and shops are located, and all around are only residential buildings," Mr. Zelensky stated.
According to Ukrainian prosecutors and regional officials, Russia deployed two "Banderol" loitering munitions—small, jet-powered cruise missiles capable of carrying up to a 150 kg payload at speeds of 650 km/h. Ukrainian defence officials note that this weapon's low-altitude trajectory and high speed make it particularly difficult for traditional air defence systems to intercept, underscoring the growing challenge of protecting frontline civilian populations.

The ongoing war in Iran has inadvertently handed Moscow an economic lifeline, driving up global oil prices and delaying the financial strain of Russia’s prolonged campaign in Ukraine, according to a senior European intelligence official.
Bolstered by a surge in commodity revenues, Russian President Vladimir Putin has secured enough capital to sustain his military offensive through at least next spring, or what the intelligence official described to Fox News as "one more season".
The financial reprieve stems directly from the spike in energy markets triggered by the escalating conflict involving the U.S., Israel, and Iran. Russian Urals crude, which languished below $40 a barrel early in the year, surged to an average of $82 a barrel during the second quarter—a roughly 50% increase from the same period last year.
This price windfall translated into an estimated $30 billion in additional export revenue for the Russian economy between April and June, according to the country's central bank. Furthermore, federal treasury collections from the oil and gas sector hit a 13-month high of 934 billion rubles in July.
"It doesn't solve the fundamental economic problems in Russia," the European intelligence official noted. But from a purely budgetary perspective, the Kremlin is currently "not under pressure," postponing the point at which domestic economic realities might force Putin to curtail his war effort.
Those underlying realities remain grim. Despite the influx of petrodollars, Russia’s Finance Ministry reported a federal budget deficit of 6.5 trillion rubles for the January-July period, overshooting the government’s target for the entire year by 70%. Analysts at Sberbank forecast the shortfall could widen to 7 trillion rubles by year-end.

Yet, this macroeconomic imbalance is unlikely to halt the war machine as long as oil prices remain elevated, experts say. Elina Ribakova, a researcher at the Washington-based Peterson Institute for International Economics, argues that a severe and sustained price collapse—specifically a prolonged period where oil trades around $35 to $40 a barrel—would be required to force Moscow's hand. Given current geopolitical volatility and the multi-front war in the Middle East, Ribakova noted, such a scenario remains highly improbable.

Russia's seaborne crude exports have suffered their steepest decline since the invasion of Ukraine, driven by a halt in loadings at a key Black Sea port that offset the impact of fresh drone strikes on the nation's refining sector.
A period of elevated Russian crude shipments—initially spurred by Ukrainian attacks that disabled domestic refineries and forced unrefined crude onto the global market—has abruptly ended. Seaborne exports have now fallen for five consecutive weeks. According to tanker-tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, the latest wave of refinery strikes failed to boost crude exports because the freed-up barrels could not be shipped abroad after operations were suspended at the Novorossiysk port. Notably, not a single vessel was loaded at the critical Black Sea terminal in the week ending Aug. 16.
The cumulative drop over this five-week period is the most significant for any comparable timeframe since the war began. To smooth out extreme volatility, Bloomberg tracks a four-week moving average, which fell by 730,000 barrels a day from five weeks ago to 3.58 million barrels a day in the period up to Aug. 16.
More volatile weekly data underscores the severity of the bottleneck. Total Russian crude shipments plunged to 3.21 million barrels a day last week, a steep contraction from a wartime peak of 4.72 million barrels a day recorded in the week ending June 28.
These severe logistical bottlenecks—spanning export, delivery, storage, and processing—combined with chronic underinvestment in upstream exploration, are now weighing heavily on wellhead production. Russian crude output has contracted for eight consecutive months. According to secondary-source estimates published by the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), Russia pumped just 8.89 million barrels a day in July. That marks a six-year low and leaves Moscow trailing its target under the broader OPEC+ production agreement by nearly 1 million barrels a day.
