The full context is that the guy was on trial already and got a hung jury. It was offer a sweet plea deal or ask an already traumatized victim to go on the stand, again. Sex offenses get notoriously short sentences because evidence can be weak and victim testimony can be stressful on the victim. At least now the guy has a criminal record,. Would you prefer he have beaten the charges entirely?
