Anime has no correlation with fascism per se. It simply corresponds with autistic people that come in different shapes and sizes. Due to their inability to meaningfully connect with other human beings they usually adopt some of the most bizarre ideas and ideologies, ranging from changing their gender to being national socialist. When you think about it, trans people and Nazis are not all that different - both tend to be spergy, have violent fantasies; both have a burning hatred towards society, and both live in a world of delusions and try to force normal people to play along and satisfy their twisted views. They are united in their fanatical obsession with anime, since it is their safe space in which they do not have to interact with the real world where their self-deception is not being catered to. And that is exactly why said groups are trying to twist every single show into being about their deluded worldviews - trans people will claim every anime is about gender things and how it is just a social construct, while Nazi types will go on and on about some innocent K-ON being a secret message about Jews and nationalism. Anime itself is not bad, a lot of it is pretty kino. But whenever someone tries to imagine a link between it and some of their political views, you can safely conclude the person you are talking to is not quite normal.
>>541105354Yes, back then there was anime on every board of this anime discussion forum, including /pol/ and /b/. /pol/ denizens posted elsewhere as well, and at the time right wing thought was so controversial that their posts garnered the most engagement. Anime pfps got associated with “right wing” content even though most anime pfps were still “normal” anime fans. /b/ continued to downward slide into a pornography board and spread the “female penis” meme, which used to be a funny joke. Soon enough though troons started emerging from the dark corners of the internet having bought into “female penis” as a real phenomenon. They were using anime pfps as well. No one wants to be associated with or confused for a troon, so most everyone else using anime pfps stopped using them. Around the same time, anime started being streamed/broadcast in the west as popular media, and (((US broadcasters))) started making demands on the content itself. Japan is a very small market compared to the US, so studios caved. Anime now is less of a Japanese culture thing and more of a regional export optimized for the widest audience and lowest creative effort, (thus every single new anime is isekai slop). Non-troon anime fan holdouts who still have anime pfps are pretty much extinct by now on the wider internet.
