Portugal and nederland both have had huge seafaring history, both a close related language to their big overweight neighbour.

Are dutch and portugese litterally 100% the same people?

Spain = germany
Portugal = colgate

Makes sense no?

Why would both coastlines have a small seperate country

I mean personally I Am not concerned with strictly enforcing national identity and shit. I just care about my dutch heritage. So whatever, fuck it. I need to read more about Portugal relation to the Netherlands though.,
>>
>>541113147
Cool. Your grandparents where dutch?
>>
>>541110640
there are actually a lot of similarities between portuguese and dutch (hollanders especially).

popular portuguese cuisine :
>bacalhau = kabeljauw
>tosta mista = tostie ham kaas

also a lot of their dishes are just potatoes with some form of pork or fish. Very northern euro like.

I consider portuguese a more refined and higher IQ version of spain. They are def western euro material.

Based bong, how do you know all this
You a chef?
>>
>>541113254
Yes, My great grandparents immigrated to the united states from Holland some time during the late 1800's. We still celebrate our Heritage in my town every year around harvest season with a big festival. We used to have traditional dutch dances where people would get dressed up in traditional garms, but, they haven't done one in a long time. Settlers moved here because the land was fertile and chose this spot specifically because it reminds them of the Netherlands.
>>
>>541113582
South dakota? Minnesota? Celebrate in your town so there is more dutch heritage people there?

Very cool. My dad went to the usa and canada with one of his brothers in the 60s or 70s, one of his aunts lived there so they visited and ofcourse did a huge road trip. Im not sure where she lived, i will ask
>>
>>541113582
Where from NL where they from, do you know?

Was it like government funded emigration or did they save up money to go?
>>
>>541113820
It's in Texas, actually.
Yeah I am very proud of my heritage. It's important to know where you came from.
That's cool, actually people are still immigrating here. I dated this dutch immigrant girl way back when. Her being a first gen immigrant.

>>541113906
I Actually don't know. I just know they came from holland. Sadly a lot of my families history has been lost to time. I had a house fire recently that was responsible for a lot of lost photographs. My mother passed away in 2018 and I was an only child.

The local government was trying to incentivize people to move here which for agricultural purposes and to connect the area to the broader economy via railway.
>>
>>541113820

I'm not dutch but I lived in western michigan which is one of the most dutch places in the USA. Everyone had dutch surnames and were tall as fuck. The local politicians are all dutch. They even have a dutch version of wal - mart called "Meijer"
. There is a yearly tulip festival too.

They came in the 1800's, I think it was a religious thing. There are some amish families in the area too and they speak this weird dutch hybrid language.

You don’t want to understand Portuguese because you’re all stuck up gilipollas with a superiority complex. You literally have to be willingly obtuse to not understand Portuguese as a Spanish speaker and vice versa.
>>
>>541110640
Did the germans also constantly stab the netherlands in the back AND allied themselves to another big boy country in order to try and take yours from you through wars?
Cause if yes, yeah portugal is like the netherlands.

And portuguese people nowadays say spaniards are like our brothers, FOR SHAME, they constantly tried to take our country! Even allied to france they couldn't win a 31k vs 6k battle! PUSSIES

some of the biggest active dutch heritage communities are in western michigan (centered around Holland, Michigan) and Northwestern Iowa. Dutch community in Northwestern Iowa is highly religious and has strong community. average fertility rate is like 3.2 children per woman

Was the usa created by freemasons with selfdestruction in mind? Is it all according to plan?
>>
>>541122434
>selfdestruction in mind
No. The founding fathers were some of the greatest men to ever live in my mind. The fact that the USA has gotten where it is today is nothing short of proof of their genius. They had the foresight to create immense amounts of prosperity to an extent the world has never seen before
>>
>>541122516
Did they know of the plans from the federal reserve debt based system to eventually destroy the usa and the west?
>>
>>541122516
Although reading your question from a different angle; if you mean did they think about the possibility of national self destruction and planned ahead for it, then the answer is yes. They put guardrails in place to minimize the damage
>>
>>541122645
Of course not. A good heurestic to keep in mind for the US is the following:
As time since the signing of the Declaration of Independence increased, so did the Size of the Federal government. This has been one of the most consistent trends to define US History
>>
>>541115030
This is just patently untrue. You can mostly understand Portuguese. Not French or Italian. Only Catalan is a bit closer to French
>>
>>541122892
From when on did the jews take charge of the usa, is it from kennedy or even before that? Are rockefellers jews for instance? Wheree the rockerfellers good for the usa in your opinion?
>>
>>541122942
Well southern France originally spoke languages from the Occitan family, which Catalan is very closely related to
>>
>>541122988
It's hard to say exactly when jewish influence started to really become a significant force in national politics but I'd wager it to be around the late 1960's.

I'd say Italian is far closer to Catalan than French.

catalans, southern french and northern italians are very closely related. Have you ever heard venetian?

Dutch are Germans. Low Franconian is dialect.
>>
>>541123430
I tend to assume Catalan is closer to Italian than French due to my personal experience and also because in the Middle Ages the Crown of Aragon controlled half of the Italian peninsula.
For historical reasons Italy must have had far more influence on Catalan (and likely the other way around too) than French ever did.
>Have you ever heard venetian?
No.

"French" comes from Ile de France in northern France. it's a langue d'oil. standard italian comes from tuscany, which is closer to catalan counties
