Even back in the 1980s it was always "Black and Latino" "Black and Hispanic" "Black and Brown" categorised as one underprivileged group.Hip Hop is considered to have been started by BOTH Blacks and Puerto Ricans.Blacks and Latinos are seen as one singular group sharing the same plight.You see Black and Latino kids playing together in the streets, hanging out together.But you don't have this in the UK. Nobody speaks of "Blacks and South Asians" as one minority group sharing the same kind of cultural and social issues. Blacks and Pakis are seen as separate minority groups with nothing in common even though they live in the same areas and go to the same schools.

In other words, just because they are non-white, blacks do not unite with them as a "black and brown" force like they do in America with Latinos. Pakis are just seen as separate people with their own affairs and not really part of the ghetto culture, even though many of them DO actually live side by side with blacks in the ghetto areas.
