The Good Friday Agreement all-but guarantees it with its reunification referendum that's legally binding, but only if it's a Republican majority, otherwise you keep rerunning it every 7 years until you finally get the 'correct' outcome :^). Are Irish people nationally cohesive enough to achieve such a thing? They don't even speak their native tongue anymore. Gaelic is dying and almost dead. There is no seperate Irish, Scottish (I'm Scottish btw), or Welsh culture. We all speak English and are essentially a homogeneous British/English culture now. Ireland may have regained their independence but their only thing left to distinguish them from the rest of the British Isles are the fact they're mostly Catholic instead of Protestant (which is becoming increasingly irrelevant since no-one is a genuine Christian anymore). It's even more pathetic here in Scotland where the entire country larps as though we're different from England in any way, putting Gaelic on signage and government pamphlets despite the fact nobody speaks it anymore
