What do we think of LoRa (long Range) radio frequency communications? They can only send extremely small data chirps, but they have enormous range and they need next to no power to run for days on end. You can have one running all the time on a tiny ass solar panel. We can start installing nodes in our local hiking spots. They can be installed along with weather sensors for temperature, humidity and pressure. Sounds really neat to be honest.
