US police culture says that the live of the police officer matters more than the lives of the people they are there to protect, and any use of force against that community for the benefit of the officers is inherently justified and in most cases will result in you being defended against consequences by the rest of the department closing ranks around you to make sure that police have no accountability. We need police as a country to perform necessary functions, but that doesn't mean we should settle for *shitty* police. But in order to fix things we'd need to overhaul the system and basically kick out all of the existing police officers and start fresh.
