They have load shedding and rolling blackouts now because of nuclear power.
People who shill nuclear power want Europe to become africa.

Meanwhile solar and wind power produce record energy levels for free.

There is an exact moment in American history where making things ornate and beautiful fell out of fashion for cost to build. And it is the Monadnock building in Chicago. Burnham and Root, the architectural firm, were known for making ornate grand classical revival buildings (Burnham was the lead architect of the Chicagos worlds fair, famous for its fantastical White City, among other famous building like the flat iron in New York) but when they submitted plans for the Monadnock they owner kept rejecting them "Too ornate, too expensive!" Finally they settled on this. A huge flat facade. It's still a handsome building, but the cultural moment had been set. Price trumped beauty and it has ever since.
>>

The model for hosting AI on data centers is not one in which there is hope for. Instead of building data centers, stealing all your company data that you feed into it, China leases their AI out for companies to run on their own closed networks. That model makes much more sense than what we are doing. Unless of course your goal is to actually steal corporate secrets and create a loophole to make yourself rich.

You don't know anything about AI if you think this. I'm not sorry to say it, you just don't know and that is fine, I don't expect you to become an expert on AI technology or to give a shit about it, the only expectation that I've of you is that you please stop talking as though you do. Because you do not. We are on /pol/, a board for the discussion of politics and current events, and there is an aspect of politics attached to these data centers. To actually talk about these data centers, their economic outcome, the harms they may or may not have to the communities that surround them, or anything else surrounding it, you need a fundamental understanding of AI at the very least. This does not mean word semantics over definitions, you need to actually know the basics. Things like:

>Tokens
>Agents
>MCPs
>Guardrails (Context of AI)
>LLMs
>Who the main providers of AI Inference are
>The investors
>The stated missions

Until then, shut the fuck up, that's all I ask, and I know you probably won't listen.
>>
>>541191331
This isn’t the reason. The latency difference would be on the order of around 50 milliseconds. That makes a big difference when you’re playing competitive FPS games, but it doesn’t really matter when you’re using LLMs.

The reason they build data centers in populated areas is because it’s cheaper and easier to hook your data center up to an existing electrical/water grid than it is to build your own infrastructure in the middle of Alaska.

There’s a square-mile data center proposed for Alaska’s North Slope, but it’s in the early regulatory phase. Closer to home, the TVA area has huge water and energy resources and is getting a lot of demand for data centers. So much that the Authority announced a 10% rate hike on DCs just yesterday.

>>

There's nothing utopian about getting rid of reliance on oil or gas. It's okay to have utopian visions, as long as you have an actionable plan with measurable incremental progress to get you to that future. Trump has "concepts of a plan". We have an actual plan that has worked in other countries, to meaningfully reduce reliance on oil and gas. Iran uses nuclear energy.

>>
>>541194424
You don't see the difference between the waste oil produces compared to nuclear? Oil produces over 90% of the world's energy for nuclear to do that the waste would be left for much longer for future generations to deal with for the sake of idea that some radioactive waste is okay

The cost of nuclear is entirely regulatory theater. No the excess regulations do not keep you safe.
Solar is not reliable, it's non-dispatchable. Literally half the day there is no power, and solar has driven down wholesale midday energy to zero value.
Fossil fuels are forced to produce *extra dirty* without baseload just to match peak demand hours.
Unless you want Elon to blind everyone with solar-mirror satellites, it's totally retarded.

PV and Wind only account for 20%, as they aren’t fully trusted as a backbone due to their efficiency/conversion limitations and distribution difficulties. They cover 60% of consumer usage, but are not as trusted for higher energy tasks without having abrupt shortages like in Spain that lacks better energy reserves. You’re advocating retarded policy. Even China, which swept German PV technology and is now at the forefront of it is still investing in a giant nuclear expansion.

The problem are the low water levels in rivers due to the heat.
You can’t magically ad more water if it doesn’t rain, your nuclear power plant will have to be shut down. And climate change caused our river levels to drop to historic lows this year.
Nuclear power has shown to be not reliable enough to handle current conditions, let alone worsening future conditions.

Luckily in Germany we invested heavily in solar and wind and didn’t have any issues compared to the countries who relied on nuclear. Hungary had load shedding and was shutting down factories because of failing nuclear power.

>>541199730
55% gross electric consumption you retard. Something which I pointed out. What of your industries, that operate with greater demands for energy input and conversion efficiencies. Instead renewables are dropped down to 23.8% from your same source when you account for final energy consumptions. Other sources note Germany with this retain a 60% import dependency. I actually hope you keep this shit up, that means all your factories and engineers will come to America if they haven’t been sourced to Poland/China or collapsed yet. Your shambolic industrial performance the last few years are reflective on that much more then your loose use of stats. Americans will lecture the German satrapy, from which Americans wrote your constitution, especially when you’re the perfect model of what policies to avoid here.
>>
>>541201388
The 55% is true because it’s for only for electricity, chiefly for things like households albeit with costs being very high in Europe. But this isn’t enough for a complex industrial economy, turning on light bulbs is not the same as what powers a car factory. He’s taking a very tunnel vision view of what an energy economy is.

>55% gross electric consumption
You just said your country has self sufficiency and your evidence is only it’s from electric consumption being half renewables. Yet you ignored the other facets of the energy economy while also dismissing Germany’s import dependency. Nuclear would significantly ease the electricity load in a more stable manner akin to France which has only a 40% energy dependency, far less than Germany’s 60+%. It has also avoided facing the catastrophic production contractions that has shaken the German economy. Nuclear also faces limitations and cannot be solely relied. But with France, Russia/Ukraine relying on it during war, China expanding it, and US Carriers using it, nuclear has a far more sturdier precedents of being a superior technology to implement even with its initially high infrastructure costs.

What we need are nuclear powered
data centers with closed loop cooling.

Because you want servers as close to clients as possible. I don't want 300ms ping, I want 3ms ping. Build the data centers in residential areas. We have ten times as many devices on the Internet today as a decade ago, but the same infrastructure.

This is the problem and has been since Bush Sr., LBJ, and the Israelis conspired to assassinate JFK.

>Two more weeks until our century of humiliation begins lmao
It began long time ago. Every day there are news about a new embarrassment for the US like your soldiers having to drink piss to survive on your vessels.

>You just said your country has self sufficiency and your evidence is only it’s from electric consumption being half renewables.
You’re really dumb are you?
Energy self sufficiency means we don’t rely on imports as some shitskins here falsely seem to think. How much of that self-supplied energy is renewably is a different statistic. I showed you 55% of our currently consumed electricity is already renewable and it’s only increasing: >>541199730

>while also dismissing Germany’s import dependency
We are not dependent on imports. It’s a complete lie and made up by people who don’t understand the EU common energy market.

>But with France, Russia/Ukraine relying on it during war,
Why don’t you mention Hungary? They had to shut down their entire economy because of nuclear power. Doesn’t fit the picture right?

>and US Carriers using it
Haha these poop vessels are not a good example. They are useless and you can’t even control a straight with them. The only people your carriers kill are your own soldiers who die from suicide.
