If AI is really able to gain sentience and take a humongous leap forward leading to all kind of scientific discovery and if the elites really believe this why all these pussyfooting around? Divert all of the available resources towards erection of data centres. i dont think it can be sentient but it already is more productive than the average person. i use ai every day for work and it earns me around 200k net a year. but it is a tool. a tool like photoshop was for designers. you either learn to use it or get left behind.
