this enrages and confounds the American
>>

>i need my numbers dumbed down for me because i'm retarded
Yea we know.
>>
>>541255561
as an american i must say this is quite confusing, and in fact it somewhat enrages me.
>>
0-100 should be based on human tolerability instead of water phase changes
>>
>>541255668
simplicity is more intelligent at the end of the day.
so that was a cope
>>
Don't scientists use Kelvin now anyway?
>>

Whatever third world shithole you're from you need to go back

Kelvin is still same sized unit as Celsius just different starting point.
>>
Fahrenheit is more precise. Cope and seethe

Fractional metrics.
>>
>>541255734
generally only when dealing with extremely low temperature environments
kelvin and celsius are the exact same scale, celsius is just kelvin shifted up 273 units on the y-axis
>>
>>541255561
the metric system is built on a lie. Water, as a liquid, has a variation of atomic combinations that affect the density.

wow i am realising Americans know temperature like they know geography.

Boiling points change at different atmosphere. That is when the kettle boils at sea level. If you are on mount Everest it will boil lower like 80c
>>
>>541255561
i fucking hate the states of matter
goddamn sublimation and melting points FRIG OFF

I like to to use Celsius exclusively for boiling water in a pot. For everything else, I use Fahrenheit.
>>
>>541256156
thats retarded boiling water in a pot is the one time you don't need Celsius.

Ok, but who invented flight and got to the moon first? That's right. Shut up you dirty smelly European. Lmao
>>
>>541257244
nautical miles are underrated fire but miles yards and feet are aids trash way under the meter. while the inch is based. but I can't do a temperature conversion for my life
>>
>>541255561
Americans are smarter, so we just memorize number. hth
>>
>>541255829
No Kelvin is used for mostly everything. You're coping.
>>
>>541256032
It only works for water, at sea level, at atmospheric pressure. It doesn't even work for salty water
>>
>>541255561
> "It is extremely cold (0° F)" = -17.77777778° C
> "It is neutral feeling (70° F)" = 21.11111111° C
> "It is extremely hot (100° F)" = 37.77777778° C
This scale makes sense to the yuropoor
>>
I like celsius because then I can do specific heat maths
for example how long it may take to heat up the room or heat up some water
not worth also memorising the specific heat capacities in fahrenheit
>>
>>541258450
Kek. Imagine needing to read three digits to know how you have to dress for the weather instead of just one digit, the tens digit.
>>
>>541255561
>base 10 is great guys!
>I know we have scientific notation, but let's just make it everything so that we ruin nomenclature with obtuse prefxes and can't divide by 3!

?
SI prefixes are great and not equivalent in usefulness to standard form
>>
>>541258654
>SI prefixes are great
nobody uses them though. Like the only ones people use are the ones that are a proxy for imperial measures. Like centimeters, meters, kilometers. Nobody uses decimeter or whatever the fuck. If you tried they'd look at you funny
>>
>>541258654
>it's not equivalent
It is the exact same thing. Congratulations, you don't understand what the prefixes mean.
Bonus points: scientific notation tells you what the fucking sig figs are.
>>
>>541258714
deciliter is used all the time for instance.
>>
>>541258714
>are a proxy for imperial measures
holy shit americans are stupid
absolutely nobody outside the us cares what an inch is
the us government doesn't care what an inch is, since the american inch is defined using cm
>>
>>541258144
>You're coping.
coping about what?? kelvin and celsius are the same fucking thing, just a +/- 273 offset depending on which direction you're converting
any calculation that "needs" kelvin can be done with a temperature in celsius as long as you remember to add 273 to the temp in kelvin. its exact, unlike the retarded fractions you have to use to convert between farenheit and celsius
>>
>>541255854
Also atmospheroc pressure impacts thr vaporation point, so literally the weather impacts ot. So what? it works.
>>
>>541260017
You have to use kelvin for most calculations in physics and chemistry because 0K corresponds to zero thermal energy, where as 0C is arbitrary in that regard.

In celsius, going from 10C to 20C it would appear that you have doubled the temperature, but really you only went from 283K to 293K, a mere ~3% increase rather than 100% increase.
