Does America actually have high-IQ voters? Even I'll admit as much as I am into politics I don't do a deep-dive into every single person I vote for. I do a quick search for anything glaring (e.g. corruption, policy history, experience), and then check the box. And that's just for voting. There are so many institutes, advocacy groups and think tanks; local, state, national, and international policies, demographics amd stakeholders, politicians, consultants, and policy-makers; traditional forms of government and hybrids, etc. that I can't imagine anyone is keyed into everything. How many people do you know IRL that can have real deep conversations about democratic socialism, classical liberalism, conservative reactionism, neoliberalism, etc. and who/what fits where? A moderate or "median voter" in this country is basically an amorphous, vague blob of a concept.The vast majority of this country probably falls into this group, amd they seem very political illiterate.Almost every typical conversation boils down to culture war fodder or what's trending fueled by the the algorithms on tiktok or twitter or facebook pushing "poli-slop."Everything is simplified and turned into a clickbait/soundbite. Hell, even the "political spectrum" everyone worships is largely useless. Someone like Trump, a populist, has tendencies from multiple political ideologies. He can barely be described as a conservative.
