>the Suez route incurs heavy canal tolls (often $500,000 to $700,000 per transit)
>Saving 10 to 14 days on the Arctic route cuts down standard transit costs by roughly $1,000,000 to $1,500,000 per voyage
>Icebreaker Escort Fees: Charged by Russia's state nuclear fleet operator. Fees range from $180,000 during mild autumn open-water periods to over $800,000 for heavy winter escorts

I love rosatom, wish we had a few nuclear icebreakers that could also provide power if needed, I think a few of the rosatomflot ones can do that.

as polar ice melts, it will be increasingly feasible
the main limiting factor seems to be the development of northern border russian ports to handle the increased volume, not to mention unpredictable winter weather
>>

Good business. How many ice breakers does Russia currently have and how many are in the pipeline? Gonna be really interesting how well you guys can keep the lanes open during a harsh winter.

No one will take the Russian arctic route because;
1- Russia is sanctioned
2- Russia is fundamentally untrustworthy
3- Russia lack the infrastructure, including resupply, rescue or ice breaking, to support route sailings.

Any good shipped breaking sanctions would be unsellable in the west and civilized world. Even China isn’t going to take that risk.

Climate change isn't real, though. The libs have invented teleportation technology and write these fake articles about shipping to make conservatives look bad.
