Why would you need data centres in your neighborhood to use ai?

Fake and gay. Websites don't give a fuck where you live bandwidth is bandwidth.
Idiot.

By that logic, local llms trained on server side llms will eventually be retarded if server side llms are being trained online.

I never really used AI, do you have to pay to use it? And if so, how they fuck do you know which one to pay for when there's like 100's of them?

You can get free tier access, but it's pretty low quality. This is what normies will use to organize their shopping lists, ask how many ml are in a tablespoon, normal mundane stuff.

Real people are spending a lot of money on AI because they have real use cases.

The more serious you are, as a person, the proportionally more AI you will consume, because you have the capability to put it to work for you.

There are indeed hundreds, but you can simplify the task by realizing that there are really two flavors of mainstream general-purpose platforms offered by the AI labs you would rent models from as a service (OpenAI, Anthropic).

Then, there is a whole zoo of implementations, because as the buyer, the more of the stack you can handle yourself, the better a deal you are getting. You really want to be paying for compute (processors, memory, storage), data (proprietary information, high-throughput db nodes, warm storage, graph databases), bandwidth.
