>>
>>541331650
That's what's funny about Musk's stance. He's right, but his reasoning is stupid.
There are a near infinite number of chess games that can be played. However, humans have optimized it over many years.
Which is just like real life.
War is very simple. It's also been optimized.
>>
>>541331684
I play chess, and you are correct.

I had a match against a jew, wherein I played an original game. My opponent was dumbfounded and tossed the board upside down accusing me of "cheating" it was very apparent that all he could do was reenact old historical games from rote memorization, he didn't even know the rules of the game.

They can't create, all they do is steal, copy, and cheat.

Doesn't that just prove there's still life in the game because you can take out an opponent who thinks he knows it all by being original?

It's like the other anon said about war, there's a lot of routes you won't take in any given situation because they're bad ones. If you have a street and the enemy are at the other end you won't order your men to stand in the open throwing pies at them even though it is an option you could theoretically choose.

Chess is interesting from a game design perspective, or at least the combinatorial space that can produce a complex game state from relatively simple rules. It's kind of solved at this point, but that doesn't make the design uninteresting to study. Go is probably the next natural thing to suggest for a game that can produce complexity from simplicity, but I'm the 21st century we probably need something like the be MtG sets with Spider-Man on them if we want anyone to play.

If you combine Fischer Randomized Chess (mirrored randomized starting positions) with Circular Chess (the board is a circle and wraps around so non-pawn pieces can even attack the rear of the enemy formation) you get a Chess that will probably never be able to be "solved" even with alien technology.

Being able to play ten moves ahead takes some processing power. Experts rarely calculate every branch that far. Instead, they use memory, intuition, and pattern recognition to narrow choices down to a few smart paths, and this is very lazy.

It's not just about chess. Thinking ten moves ahead is a way of life, master it, not the game.
There are few surprises in life, when you expect the unexpected in advance.

this, i have a copy of command and conquer i bought (one of the few games), solely because i wanted a challenge that trumped chess.

chess is too rigid, when real war (and interpersonal relationships) is more fluid and changes moment by moment.

in real life a pawn can be a hidden bishop that can move like a knight with the defense of a rook and liberty of a queen, while taking a shot at an enemies piece from a distance of 4-8 squares like a sniper.

chess can't train for that fluidity
for 2d minded golems its perfect, but only for their 2x2 board lives, once you step out into the real world, you need a game with more complex rules, pieces and outcomes. (Armored Brigade II, Command and Conquer, and other rts games)

As long as a game uses logic and reasoning in its mechanics then yes those will be useful in real life. Playing games where you have to make complex decisions based on objective information is the foundation of critical thinking, reason, and logic. Training yourself to treat life as a game with no emotional attachments to objectively rational decisions is a very useful skill that most people don't have.

He's right. Chess is a boring game.
I think of Dungeons & Dragons as the improved version of chess. Some queerfolk play D&D like a theater group of actors, but the original game was really rooted in classic military simulation. For a long time people would make tiny figurines of soldiers and play out wars, sort of how people play Warhammer 40k the physical game with the dice and mini's. But D&D is more like chess, you have your combat grid, and each piece has movement rules and combat rules to determine which piece drops. And since it's a narrative with constantly changing locations and enemies, it keeps the tactics fresh and interesting.
>>
>>541339510
I would agree to an extent, since D and D is really about a story that is pushed along by a Dungeon Master for pure entertainment. Dungeon Masters bend rules in order to keep things moving along, and that includes bending logic to fit their naratives.

In the real world all you have to be is at least a little priviliged and do what your told to do and you will be ok. Chess has more fluidity than you can even think of. You have no idea what you're talking about. If you were put on a battlefield you'll likely die like you lose in chess.

Did you know Elon Musk invented the iPhone back in 1978 but Steve Jobs stole the original blueprints from him?

Chess is fun if both players are at a low level, making up strategies as they go. Chess at a mid or high level is just
>ah yes, I recognise his move because I read it in the chess book, but he doesn't know also read the other chess book, that tells me what to do about this move

>he needs daddy's money and an unfair advantage.
I mean that's a good recipe for success. steal your opponent's money/resources and it makes it easier to fuck them over
these are two distinct aspects. one is honorable duel/competition, the other one is real life battle with basically no rules.
people like to glamorize conflict, war has rules and shit, but it doesn't really. just look at how many are blown to pieces with drones when they walk with their hands up to surrender. if you don't follow any rules you have a higher chances of success.

so in this case, it's quite obvious what his state of mind is. it's about winning by any means necessary, not honorable competition lmao. one of the biggest self snitches if I ever saw one from him

Einstein did have one patent, for a shirt with two rows of buttons, in case you ate too much, but that's about the best they ever did.

You're just a dimwitted fag, that's all there's to it. Just like anyone who thinks RTS is more complex than chess. You are just too stupid for it.
>>
>>541341031
Technically it is more complex, more pieces, more moves, larger environments, no turns, more variables. A chess game can be mapped out systematically but an RTS is ever changing.

On one hand, Musk is clearly a blustering idiot making up excuses for being bad at a game that intellectuals like to play.

On the other hand, it's just a game, and won't indicate you are good at anything else in life other than playing that game.
>>
>>541341361
You could just refute my points but I understand if its too hard for you.

>>541341200
yeah you can also pay someone else to play it for you and then pose like you did all that

Chess is nothing like reality. Just as anything logical, anything rational.
Reality is ever changing chaos while logic only handles a limited set of rules for things that never change, for ideas i.e.
>>
>>541341598
Doesn't do well for your argument, makes it look like only a fool thinks chess is better.

Chess has been for faggots ever since based Bobby solved the game and quit. Go is the gentleman's game.
>>
>>541331242
>>541330932

Musk point is not that Chess doesn't need high iq.
The point is that it doesn't teach anything useful outside of chess.

Chess is not a good wargame.
A game like Risk teach you more about real life skills than chess.

A real wargame is something like dominions
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7BkYeCINPE

Were you have fog of war and you need to diplomancy multiple actos with their own agendas. You learn how coalitions and alliances form out of need even if it can only be one winner.
You are forced to negotiate and not be a retard.
>>
>>541332144
That's fucking retarded to say, Chess would be a solved game if that was true.
>>
>>541341567
it is fundamentally. he's not an honorable player. both caught paying someone else to boost his diablo char and also self snitching with chess. he cannot cheat at chess. I mean he could with a buttplug

> geniuses admire simplicity
No, geniuses don't admire anything, Admiration is not the essence of genius.
The genius masters complexity by intuitively simplifying it.

>were all the military men of history wasting their time by being chess autists?
The actual game of chess is great for metaphors about war but it inspires no practical strategies.

In recorded history peanut butter was invented by edomites so you're close, Edom was Jacob Israel's brother Esau. Edomites (india) ate a bucket of curry peanuts and squirted it into a jar from their rear end. circa 800BC
Indian potato, the precursor to the modern peanut was so popular it became extinct in India.
Relatives of the potato were discovered in Bolivia centuries later, but nut butters originated in Asia.
Incas and Aztecs ground roasted peanuts into a thick paste over 3,000 years ago.
Ground nut and seed pastes have a long history outside of peanuts. Sesame paste (tahini) was created thousands of years ago. In medieval times, Mediterranean and Islamic cultures pounded almonds into rich pastes to thicken stews or make sweets like marzipan.

If jews claim that they invented peanut butter, they stole it from the Aztecs when they were colonizing south america.

>>541340666
>no jew has ever invented a thing
interest, shaving off coins...
srsly, tho, many jews invented many things, laser for one. but we already know that you aren't able to comprehend reality. fuck off, stormfag.
israel must go tho

I think it's more about the game itself than the players

>Number of possible games orders of magnitude greater than the number of atoms in the known universe

A fair point but a majority of those potential games would also be 'silly'. Like random movements, not taking high value hung pieces, repeating moves that serve no purpose.

The number of possible games where both sides are actively trying to win is much smaller than the number of potential games.
>>
>>541341658
>>541341598
>>
>>541330932
a genius admires simplicity, an idiot admires complexity
>>
>>541330932
Now THIS is a game for true geniuses. Literally infinite possibilities.
