I am a working professional actually contemplating leaving the workforce to be a stay at home dad for 2 toddler age and younger kids. Day care/nanny costs are unbelievable. Wife is about to go from $180k base salary to $325k after adding a Master's to her resume. She also gets $100k or so a year in RSUs. I make just over $100k. I can do side/gig work and pull $50 or $60k per year, save all the day care costs, and actually be present in my kids' lives before 7:30 pm every night. I guess the downsides are giving up my career and becoming a 'kept man'.
