They don’t. Westerners outperform almost all Asians on standardized tests. But to answer your question generally, it’s a combination of genetics and culture. Why Asians are genetically intelligent is hard to say, but test taking has been a part of Asian culture for thousands of years. They just suck at actually doing things that really matter in the real world or anything novel. A high performing Asian dreams of getting high test scores and becoming a highly paid civil servant. A highly performing white doesn’t give a shit about test scores, only goes to elite schools to socialize with other elites, and dreams of going to the moon, doing something novel, or changing the world forever.
South Koreans sacrifice eating, sleeping and socializing to barely outperform Whites and burnout and hate their parents.

Largely cultural. Their parents expect nothing less than strong-A's, otherwise they ashamed the famiree. Oh and extracurriculars are all "you need play piano and MASTER CONCERT AND BE NORMAR!!!!!" so this puts an insane amount of stress on the kids to overachieve.Meanwhile white kids grow up in upper middle class homes and grow up with entitled princess attitude.
