UK says Russia can keep land that it wins.
>>
That's the right approach. Make a clear deal that says Russia can keep some of the east of ukraine but that there must be a firm border to ensure the security of 'western ukraine' + other guarantees
>>
>>541368092
Yeah pretty obvious
>>
Good thing Ukraine's not a real country, or this loss of territory would actually mean something.
>>
>>541368092
fcuking Brits prevented a peace deal right at the beginning of the war
>>
>>541368092
So then Russia will have no desire to make a peace deal while they're still moving forward, congrats Andy

>That's the right approach. Make a clear deal that says Russia can keep some of the east of ukraine but that there must be a firm border to ensure the security of 'western ukraine' + other guarantees
This could have been done in the late 2021/early 2022 diplomatic attempts BEFORE the war started and however many hundreds of thousands/millions of Slavs died. As well as hundreds of billions of dollars spent by various countries and the economic consequences of the sanctions and all that.

Was it worth it just to end up with an outcome that could have simply been negotiated from the start?

The movie, Terminator 2, is older than "Ukraine" the country.

The word "Ukraine" means "borderlands". There was never a country of Ukraine until 35 years ago because it was always on some other country's borders like Russia or Lithuania-Poland (whatever it was called)
>>
>>541368336
They dont. All of russias economic ties are with asia now, happened real quick too. Cars for example, european car makers left, 8 weeks later those same manufacturing plants were producing chinese cars, vw and bmw dealerships were converted to mg and byd dealerships overnight. But these changes are permanent, no way back for eu companies into europe. A 150 million people market right next door is permanently lost to chinese alternatives. Xi Xinping could not have written a better scenario in his dreams

Why is the mayor of manchester telling a world leader what he can and can't do???
>>

The UK has no ability to tell Russia anything right now. They're a second rate nation with a third rate military. Plus all the stuff they HAD already got blown up in Ukraine and they have no way to replace it.
They're cooked. They don't even have a Navy anymore.

>This isn't the early 20th century no one cares what UK says
Good point. Everything the UK ever did should be retroactively rescinded and nullified. Including the creation of your fake country.
>>
>>541369046
>that would set a bad precedent.
You already set the precedent for a negotiated handover of territory without war back in 1997 when you handed Hong Kong over to Communist China without a fight. You circled the wagons when it came to Danzig and the Falklands though.
>>
>>541369046
Then all these dead Slavs are worth it to teach Putin a lesson, right? What if you didn’t do a color revolution in Ukraine, then there would be no conflict, or is that unacceptable?
>>
>>541368333
The bet was that Putin wouldn't do a damn thing just like after the Minsk agreements. It was all just an attempt to demonstrate the power of US and the EU and it didn't really end well. "We're going to support literal Nazis in Ukraine and you won't be able to do a damn thing about it because otherwise we'll destroy your country". And while that isn't the entire reason, it led to the crisis in the West that we're seeing now, it literally showed that the US isn't all-powerful and has a ton of its own problems, and can't be bothered to deal with random shitholes that they promised to support, while EU and NATO can't do a damn thing on their own.
>>541369046
Yeah. Europe and the EU literally considered Russia an enemy even before it had done anything. Even in the 90s when Russia was still reaching out to Europe, there was already talk about its dismemberment and NATO expansion. Peace is impossible because one side still sees the other as the enemy even when the other side literally couldn't feed itself and had completely surrendered. The only way forward according to the West is the complete destruction of Russia even more so than it was with the Soviet Union.
>>541369208
The difference is that this wasn't Russia. These people would be more likely to try to negotiate with actual Islamic terrorists than with Russians.
>>
>>541369208
I'm talking about Russia and Ukraine, not China and Hong Kong. Totally different thing
>>
>>541369236
>Then all these dead Slavs are worth it to teach Putin a lesson, right?
it's not for me to say, but I suppose Putin views it was worth it to get some of Ukraine, and Zelensky sees it as worth it to keep as much of Ukraine as possible

Yes and no. The New Territories, New Kowloon, and the Outlying islands were leased. Hong Kong Island, Southern Kowloon, and Stonecutters island were ceded to Britain in perpetuity. The issue was Hong Kong public works such as 99% of the water supply reservoirs were inside the leased territories. Also much of their water came from Guangdong Providence. None of this is true for the Ukraine at all. None of Ukraine was leased from Russia and ukraines water wasn’t supplied by Russia.

Keeping ceded Hong Kong without these public works wasn’t feasible.

2:retreat from NATO occupated Ukraine
3: pretend you was never there nor support it.
4:initiate surrender to Russians.

>>
>>541368092

>>
>>541369242
It’s illegal to annex territory through war and a violation of the Russian Federations treaty with Ukraine to respect its territorial integrity in exchange for nuclear disarmament. The US was also party to this agreement.

Ukraine wasn’t a NATO candidate country and simply wished to realign economically with the EU. It’s against international law to annex territory from another country regardless of internal revolution. NATO is a defensive alliance and Ziggers wouldn’t have to worry about it if they respected their neighbors territorial integrity. Ukraine isn’t a part of Russia. It doesn’t matter if ethnic Russians live inside Ukraine. >>541368216
>>541369236
1.5 million and growing dead Russians means combined with a destroyed Black Sea fleet, crippled refining capacity, and depleted armory and tank stockpile is definitely worth something. It saves money for NATO not having to worry about Ziggers for another decade.
>>541369893
That’s basically the message but honestly it’s just bullshit because Russia isn’t going to nuke the west or they would’ve already. They already have blown up factories, shopping malls, arms depots, etc dating to before the 2014 Crimean War within NATO territory. They routinely violate NATO airspace by flying fighter jets into its airspace.

Russia could’ve just continued to modernize like pre 2014 Russia and build relationships with the west and former Soviet states on the basis it wouldn’t sperg out and annex it neighbors.

>>541371126
True. China is overpowered industrially. It’s like they learned everything from the Economic Shock Therapy of former Warsaw Pact (decided that was dogshit), learned from Korea and Japan, and internal experiences. They came to a synthesis where key input industries like steel, defense, chemicals, petrochemicals, minerals, finance, telecoms, utilities, and machine tools remain State owned Enterprises.

Then they took that central planning capacity for infrastructure to create vertically integrated supply chains that less vital sectors could build off of.

So instead of mass deindustrialization and unemployment it provides a platform for further economic growth with cheap inputs. Westerners, Africa, India, and other Asian countries can’t compete with it. Their labor isn’t even cheap by global standards anymore it’s just they have everything so perfectly integrated. It’s what happens when you have much of the government made up of by engineers. It’s amazing.

There is no deal to be made. The US government killed his dad. They injured him severely. The US won’t even honor its trade agreements or territorial integrity (Greenland or Canada) with its own long time allies and partners. Trump unilaterally broke the previous Iran agreement. There is zero incentive for Iran to give up now when they’re so close and after all they’ve been through it just proves they need a nuke. The US has either killed or through its actions sidelined any moderating influence within Iran.

Unlike Iraq 2 where it was to remove Saddam and Weapons of mass destruction they couldn’t even think of a real coherent reasoning.

Some admit it’s to protect Israel. Some say it’s to stop the Iranian nuclear program. That somehow leveling Iran and killing the leaders dad their former leader achieves that goal. America bombed their nuclear facilities already claimed to destroyed them last year (partially bullshit and they still have the uranium). Maybe the goal was to coordinate with the anti regime protest and Kurdish groups but that failed miserably. Regime change was a stated objective but that’s failed. Reopen the straight? There just isn’t a clear goal other than whatever Israel says unfortunately.

If it was George HW Bush he might’ve been able to pull it off because HW Bush wasn’t a complete idiot. I liked how previous presidents would get super annoyed with Israel publicly but it was funny how their hands were tied.

>Okay let's just make the America's word even more meaningless. Sometimes interests naturally align. Europe will take defense more seriously from now on and this gives America room to pivot.
The problem with US trying to act as the world's police is that it makes absolutely no sense now. It made sense when US was on the rise and could afford it, thanks to its massive economy that had remained untouched by World War 2. It doesn't make sense to try to control some random shithole that's stuck to you because you overextended your zone of influence. Even Europe doesn't really matter much to America right now. Glowniggers are used to stirring up shit all over the world, but it's not working right now because the country is simply incapable of taking advantage of the opportunities they create. Ukraine is a good example, there’s no doubt that they started this, but it’s literally just getting in the way of foreign policy. If it weren’t for this war, US and Russia would be trying to be the best of friends in order to contain China and keep each other in check.
>>
>>541373581
Americas foreign policy is schizophrenic because every 2-4 years it changes. Jimmy Carter fucked over the Shah because the Middle East democracy meme and now we got this situation. Sometimes just like men, nations fight, and come out the side friends years down the line. Russia was a country that supported the Union side in the US Civil War and deterred an unpopular intervention from the British. Things ebb and flow. I just guarantee it'll just get wackier from here. Maybe one day interests will align again. It was pretty funny when Russia and America teamed up against Islamism during George W Bush and later on against ISIS. Or how the US and the USSR were on the same side during the Biafra conflict in Nigeria against France and Israel. Or during the Suez Crisis where they both collectively told the UK/France no this isn't happening.

We gave security guarantees along with the US and a bunch of EU member states in exchange for Ukraine's newly acquired soviet nuclear missiles after the collapse of the soviet union. We said we would defend them with everything in exchange for the nuclear weapons and to protect them from Russian aggression in the future. Now following this we refused to add them to NATO so we wouldn't get dragged into an article 5 defensive war so they've been NATOs buffer state ever since. And we didn't bother defending them when Crimea was taken in 2014 and instead offered vague help offers. 2022 rolls around and now Russia is going for an annexation of Donetsk and Luhansk with a secondary objective of annexing the whole country (which is likely to happen now given the mass depopulation and the west's mostly ineffectual help). Now because we're absolute cunts (including the EU and the US), we convinced them not to surrender those two provinces and we signed mineral deals/reinvestment deals with Ukraine in exchange for the help. Following this we're now heavily invested in Ukraine winning because their entire economy is about to get vultured by the UK, Germany, France and the US. This is why Trump was so pissed off when Zelensky refused to sign the first mineral deal, because he was missing out on the largest country raping since Germany after the signing of the treaty of Versailles.
The reality is that the winner of this war takes all of Ukraine and the west would really like to have it instead of Russia. Ukraine basically doesn't have a choice other than which ideology they're going to follow after the war finishes.
