I am starting to think market economics don't work like we were told. The profit motive in the free market system does not produce the best products and services at the cheapest price. The profit motive aims for the highest price on a product that is the lowest acceptable quality. Public colleges, roads, and public healthcare are all cheaper than their privatized free market alternatives for exactly or nearly exactly the same thing. The lack of a profit motive makes things cheaper because no one is massively profiting. Public run healthcare around the world is both cheaper and often has better results than our free market model. We were sold a fat lie that privatization and the free market is a miracle drug, when it was just a fairytale to rob us blind.Who would truly think the profit motive would make things cheaper?

yea the main incentive isnt to sell a product as cheap as possible. the main idea is to sell it as expensive as possible.you only sell cheap when you want to increase your market share. once your market share has reached a certain dominance you swap to the milking model. chinese for example sell products below value, just to get market share, that isnt healthy competition either.

The profit motive aims for the highest price on a product that is the lowest acceptable quality.There was a time when company would try to sell the best quality for the lowest price now it the complete opposite with company competing how make people pay more for less.We have planned obsolescence, enshittification, subscription for product that shouldn't be under subscription, bloated software the siphon our data for worse service, product we bought but aren't really our own (software, machine, car...).It remind me the internet subscription back in late 2000 in France, all big communication conglomerate agree on the price to keep it expensive until one company appeared, offered lower price, couldn't be bought because law so company had to lower internet subscription and now it's like unlimited internet for half the US price.Maybe that's the solution: enforced competition.
