An entire thread about prices and wages and I control F banks, fiat, and inflation and find no discussion of the cause. What happens if you have an economy and you increase the amount of money in it? Prices rise. When you say that minimum wage should be raised, you are saying the government should fix a minimum price for buying a worker. No one is talking about the continuously expanding money supply which causes prices to rise in the first place. For example, here is a crude make believe example. Your country has high pensions. People on pensions and welfare are often reckless with their money. That increases the demand for goods (such as houses or food). Boom booms are going around throwing their free money at everything. That causes the prices of things to rise to meet the increased demand. According to this the money supply of the EU has quadrupled since 2000. The laws of supply and demand say that as the supply of money quadruples, the demand for it must correspondingly shrink. In other words, if there are 4x as many euros as there were in 2000, then a euro should theoretically be worth 1/4 of what it was in 2000. And theoretically the minimum wage should be 4x as high as it was in 2000, if you want to keep playing.
