The book is well written and well researched and also addresses the interests of the other nations and ethnic groups in the middle east. "How States Think" by John Mearsheimer is good too if you end up liking this book.

>>541429175you don't need to read shit, it's easy- nations want to hog resources and accumulate power, as well as assure their "sphere of influence" i.e. countries doing their bidding because they fear they could simply get fucked if they don't- they anticipate all other nations to want the same and thus have to think several steps ahead at all times, they can't be reactionary unless they want to get fucked off-guardfrom there just read history and piece it together
