When you use your missile stocks on iran, other theatres that rely on US munitions suffer. This was a begging mission to plead with russia not to exploit this opportunity in ukraine. I would think russian support for Iran was discussed, also.

The bigger myserty is why he needed a C17. My guess is Russia captured some high ranking NATO officials in Ukraine and they needed to negotiate their release fast. Also remember, Vatican foreign minister visited the same day. I think US needed something from Russia and made some kind of deal, likely it just didn't want to be super embarrassed and caught red-handed with their pants off, because high ranking NATO officers or someone equally important is very embarrassing.
