My wife is a teacher and thats by far the largest issue we face when dealing with the current literacy crisis. Thats great that people can sound out the words, thats part of reading. But deriving the meaning of the sentence is the true meaning. Kids today can read the paragraph as it is written but can not tell you anything about it. Modern tech, smart phones and tablets, have shifted the way we interpret written information. In the early days of the internet we would read just as we did from a book. However, now we scan for keywords on the site, but the trouble doesnt stop there. We take that method back to books and read it the same way. A great example is the format of the OP video. In it we have dozens of 1 second cuts, rapid and overly concise. We see each word, and sometimes a syllable, per cut. Its almost nauseating to watch for someone who isnt use to this type of content.
