By being the champion of the people and having overwhelming support of the country.

You don't pull off a win from this starting position without mass public support.

The KMT was a Soviet creation post Borodin reorganization in 1923 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mikhail_Borodin and structurally was a copy of the USSR

They were trying to impose the Soviet political model onto China which was not really the correct fit for the situation.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dang_Guo

Mao developed his own political system Maoism which organized the peasant population that was the correct system for the situation at hand.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maoism

Russia and China were in different positions and required different political systems for their circumstances.

China, at the time, was a largely agrarian economy where industry, while existent, was pitiful and couldn't even dream of comparing to Japan, Germany, or the Soviet Union. This is combined with the fact that the Nationalists had precarious control over the country as while the warlords were subjugated, they still very much existed, and still threatened Chinese peasantry on a daily basis. During WW2, the Chinese Nationalist government had to deal with both the Japanese invasion combined with attempting to thwart the Communists, in a society with severely limited local industrial capacity where peasants not only outnumber the urbanites by 400 million but also comprise the backbone of their entire economy. Ultimately, China was too divided to resist the Communist threat, as rural Chinese and urban Chinese lived separate irreconcilable realities from each other and the rural populace viewed Mao's promises of worker-centric collectivized ownership as a path towards assured stability that they were severely lacking in. Mao would later repay the loyalty of the peasantry by enacting disastrous policies that led to widespread famine.
>>
>>541484108
How so?
>>
>>541483819
because the USSR gave him heavy support
>>
>>541487407
The Japanese army invaded when the reds were in trouble iirc, and the nationalists or whatever they were called decided to put their differences temporarily aside with the communists to fight the Japanese. The commies let them do the bulk of the fighting and used the time to regain their strength, which they then used to kick the nationalists out of the mainland after the Japanese were defeated
>>
>>541487444
You mean Manchuria?
>>
>>541487806
This.
Even Mao thanked Japan for weakening his opposition.
