The EU is the platipus of states/international entities.It's expanded more than anything else since ww2.But it's contingent and may fall apart at any point, with 2 bad elections in France and Germany.It's too loose to be a state. But it's more integrated than any other international org, by a massive margin.It has it's own currency, which is second only to the dollar in international use. But it does't normally issue it's own debt.It's either an anomaly or ahead of the curve, but either way nobody apreciates how exceptional it is, inside or outside it.
