Remind me again whose navy is sitting at the bottom of the sea and whose is still patrolling every major waterway on the planet? Remind again who has more nukes than Russia, China, and the EU combined? Remind me again who literally went into another country, took their dictator with zero (0) casualties and now has complete control of its oil industry? Remind me again who waged a trade war on everyone and actually won and is now collecting fucking tithes from the entire world?

Is everyone drinking the "if you kill your enemies, they win" koolaid again?

The question of weather Iran won or lost is such an amazing window into the utter absurdity of modern political discourse and the state to which it has degraded, its fascinating. It does not mater what objectives have been achieved or what interests have been defended, all of this is utterly irrelevant to an average person obsessed with politics today. All he cares about is his "team" being declared the winner. Keyword being "declared", because it does not have to include anything tangible - he just wants to hear that the team he had chosen had achieved victory and the other one faced a defeat. The glorious righteous and benevolent Team A won, while the pathetic incompetent and despicable Team B lost. And that is all that is to it. Same goes for the domestic political realm - even if you voted for a president that does everything against your best interests and spits in your face, it is all good as long as the other "team" is angry enough about the election results. Ultimately, this dynamic of mutual pettiness and resentment ends up leading both sides to cannibalize their own society, but to them it is not such a big deal, since what actually is important is that they managed to upset some group of "opponents" that are now big mad about developments both should be angry about. All of this is so ridiculously destructive for both sides and yet they still happily continue engaging in this. I guess this is what happens when you start treating politics as a sports competition.

Given the alternative in this world, better to be the saddest winner then one among many sad losers.
