But I just heard that Peter Cullen, voice of Optimus Prime, has passed at the age of 85. I was a Transformers kid through and through back in the 80s. Loved the toys and the cartoon. A huge part of that was the character of Optimus Prime. He was positioned not just as the leader of “the good guys”, but a genuine force of caring and positivity for all those around him. He lead with strength and compassion, never lowering himself to the tactics of his enemies. All life had value and should be free to exist as they saw fit. This was a profound source of inspiration for me as a child. It shaped how I thought and felt about everyday things. A real role model born from a fictional character. It pains me to know I will never hear Mr. Cullen in that role again. He had such a positive influence on me and I am forever grateful. Till all are one.
