Trump has "joked" about annexing Canada since 2024. It's no joke, he's serious and is literally following Putin's playbook almost to the letter via demonizing, economic sanctions and inevitably invasion.

Today's renaming of Lake Ontario to "Lake America" is also no joke, it's effectively a land grab. RW media (including the official White House account) treat it like he's annexed the whole lake. Don't be surprised if he threatens countries with tariffs if they don't recognize "Lake America", including Canada itself.

Trump doesn't give a fuck about NATO, because in his eyes the US *is* NATO. While theoretically an invasion of Canada would trigger Article 5, it's more likely that NATO would sacrifice Canada to prevent WWIII and Canada would be on its own beyond token support. Canada itself simulated that it would take two days for the US to conquer it.

While they deny it, supposedly the US "trade deal" was to pretty much turn Canada into a vassal state with no control over its resources or who it can trade with. They're insulted that Canada didn't agree. I think Mark Carney sees the writing on the wall and it's why he is pivoting so hard and fast to the EU, because membership in it will provide both protection from the US and a trade bloc to replace them.

But this is the worst case scenario, and I really hope that common sense prevails and that trade talks resume soon. Because if not, Canada is in trouble.

Canada is in trouble because of our own retard populace and government. Trump may be a fucking idiot, but he hasn't done 1/10th the damage that our own government has.

The US annexing Canada would be a positive development and things in Canada only ever get worse so there's 0% chance that happens.

Hard to predict that, many ways things could go wrong. I think we can all agree it would be a very funny development however

How would he deal with Quebec since he just posted on truth social that he loves French Canadians? I doubt the US would give Quebec the kind of rights and power Canada grants them to protect their precious language and culture. At first I thought if the US annexed Canada Quebec and their French bullshit would be absolitely destroyed and wiped off the map but ever since he posted on truth social that he loves French Canadians I'm npt so sure anymore. I guess US congress people would have to learn French

You don't deserve Canada and never did. The more poo's you keep adding will be proof of it, it will get to a point where we WILL have to annex you because of your uncontrolled immigration policy spilling over into ours as illegal indians flee your failed state and burden us.
>>
>>541541773

Are you a retard? Most definitely your quality of life would increase, immediate access to better markets. The downside would be to America as they would gain 40 million faglord voters.

There's really no precedent for a Nato country just annexing another one like that so we don't know how things would go. Might be an Irish Troubles kind of situation but much worse.

Also we don't know how the US would govern us. They might just bleed us.

Are you 70 years old? This country is dead. The average young person is some Indian who showed up a month ago. No one is fighting for "Canada" - and no one did which is why it's an overpriced, overtaxed, underdeveloped shit hole with decreasing quality of living. Being paid in USD alone would immediately raise the purchasing power and quality of life of Canadians overnight.

It means a return to great power politics, which means weaker neighbors of large powers become vassals or battle grounds for proxy wars.

Good.
We can finally establish Ultima Thule:
>Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark (+Faroe islands), Iceland
We have been victims of the current world order with zero benefits to us from the start.
We need this.
If Canada gets annexed by US, you should thank God for it. Canada needs to be saved from herself. She's a maniac.
https://youtu.be/wh4ktk93lEQ
(So is Finland and other nordic countries, but this arrangement would fix us, too)

Ultima Thule would have sufficient population to be a substantial market, has enough firepower to defend herself and so on.
I see no reason to keep Nordics pinned down in service of the South who never pays anything back and doesn't even recognize the sacrifices we make here in order for the south to keep napping after siesta.

By reforming our structures entirely, we don't need to import human labor in order to keep ancient bureucracies intact, which is the premise and purpose of the current policy. Which is stupid beyond belief.
>When the tax base shrinks - one needs to shrink the bureaucratic machine in direct proportion to the shrinking tax base.
Simple as.
Only people who "get hurt" in this, namely lose some money, are people who's ONLY JOB is to simply receive money and do nothing for it - vast majority of the bureaucratic offices, such as
>"compost inspectors".
People who can't take care of themselves never were any burden. Their weight/impact is hardly measurable.

Anyways. Seems like Trump is doing exactly what needs to be done. Carry on.

1 of 11 carrier groups is occupied with Iran. The whole rest of their military is unoccupied and we have the longest border on Earth with them and also we rely on transiting the US for vast amounts of essential east/west shipments. We also have no military to speak of and rely on them for a very long list of essential goods, like gasoline and diesel. Oh and Alberta wants out and they're basically our entire economy; if they vote to leave we'll be begging the US to let us in because a decade of Trudeau will look like paradise compared to Canada minus oil revenue.

I dunno how anyone gets upset about Trump saying stuff like "Canada exists because we let it exist" because it's absolutely true.
>>
>>541546995
>Oh and Alberta wants out
That would definitely be the way to do it for the US but it still feels pretty farfetched.
>>
>>541546995
You have a strange understanding of things desu.
Much of Europe only exists because Germany 'lets it exist' in that case too.
But the reality is as follows
>if a state tries to blatantly overthrow the sovereignty of another state that it 'lets exist' it may experience more pain than it experiences by just 'letting it exist'
Your way of seeing the world is deeply retarded in other words.
>>
>>541547482
Let's also add onto this another obvious truth, historically and even currently visible.
>war is unpredictable
Many states today were 'allowed to exist' until someone decided, like you, no, I will not allow this. Then those states, perceived as 'allowed to exist' won wars they were supposed to lose by conventional logic of the 'stronger states' at the time.
This can happen anywhere at any time. One should never be too confident in choosing who will win a fight or a war.
>>
>>541547556
Man, and by extension Nation, is a beast. And beasts are averse to conflict if they survive long. The mad dog dies quickly. So too does the mad bear. Rabies is not an advantage.
Although it is funny to see Anglo-derived states picking up old German tendencies.

>Canada is in trouble.
