>gives Republicans collective brain damage
How did he turn the GOP from the reasonably serious policy-oriented guys of Heritage and Cato in the 80s to what they are now in his one man crusade for Dominican hooker money?

Rush Limbaugh wasn't morally superior to today's pundits, but he was better at lying. People actually believed him. Its just like W Bush vs Trump. They both started wars for Israel in the middle east, but Bush won the war and Trump lost.

The competency crisis is real. Today's politicians are not morally different than yesterday's, but it is important to note that today's version are both corrupt and incompetent, not just corrupt.

And even those shock jocks didn't know anything. They were attacking Obamacare because of vacuous reasons, when it's national Romneycare based on a pretty sensible Heritage proposal.

The question is: were they just giving voice to the vapid and ignorant opinions of the base? Or were they causing the base to be more vapid and ignorant?

As soon as he started talking about bankers, he was dead.
