It's bullshit.
we're in a recession.
gov has been lying about the GDP for well over a decade.
most of our GDP comes from selling real estate to foreign investors and from fleecing immigrants.
we basically import million people a year and strip them of their savings through taxes and a massive cost of living costs.

Among other things, there are more than 50 Nova Scotia Works locations around the province compared to 23 regional offices that offer support for income assistance clients.
Although the changes are intended to help clients, they also appear destined to impact government jobs.
James said three non-unionized employees were laid off Tuesday and a voluntary call for resignations with severance was issued to 300 unionized staff working in the income assistance and employment support services programs within the Social Development Department.

https://www.reuters.com/world/americas/canadas-second-quarter-gdp-recovers-sharply-domestic-demand-revives-exports-grow-2026-08-28/

>The economy grew at an annualized rate of 3.3% in the second quarter, the fastest rate since 2023, after a revised 0.3% increase in the first quarter, Statistics Canada said.
>The upward revision to first-quarter growth means Canada was not in a technical recession, usually defined as two straight quarters of contraction.
uh oh :(

The 3.3% annualized GDP growth rate for Q2 2026 reported by Statistics Canada is utter CBC bullshit, that hides severe, structural economic rot. While the numbers look like a booming recovery on paper, they are not driven by a healthier, more efficient economy

The biggest driver of this 3.3% jump was a 3.6% surge in exports, led by a massive 27% increase in passenger cars and light trucks moving south. This wasn't a permanent shift; it was Canadian manufacturers frantically clearing out inventory and pushing goods into the US before crippling new American import tariffs took full effect.

The Data Centre Artificial Bump: Private business investment finally rose by 2.3% after shrinking for over a year. However, Statistics Canada noted this was heavily skewed by a 16.7% spike in importing computer processing units to construct data centres. We are importing foreign chips to build tech infrastructure, which temporarily spikes "investment" metrics but doesn't mean local businesses are growing

The Gas Price Windfall: Corporate profits got a major lift strictly because the war in Iran sent global gas prices soaring. This boosted Canada's energy sector but actually acted as a tax on the rest of our domestic economy

Canadas productivity is in freefall. By adding more people to increase work hours and taking on more public debt, Canadas growth is is just splitting a slightly larger pie among more people. And the newcomers are Jeets, Well known for super productivity, filling high paying, in demand jobs. Not.

Occasionally, stats Canada doesnt lie by omission and puts out real GDP growth numbers. Numbers that CBC wont publish. see if you can them.

We are borrowing from tomorrow to look good today. This is going to end badly.
