Yes, long Covid still affects millions worldwide.
No, there is no detectable proof it exists.
Yes, the study must be flawed. It's a real illness. It just is, okay?

they run some study on children during the peak hysteria and found out that the supposed symptoms of long COVID had the exact same occurrence rate among children who had suffered from COVID before, and those who had zero markers for it, as in, were never infected so far.

>The group with long COVID had more symptoms, a higher body mass index (BMI), more hospital admissions during acute illness, and more smokers compared to those without long COVID.
So, the fucking unhealthiest people get sick then blame it on 'MUH COVID' instead of any of their life choices. Classic.

Years ago a Finnish study found that previous history of mental illness predicted having the long covid aka hypochondria mental illness too

I know three people who apparently have this terrible but also invisible disease. All of them are women aged 20-40. One of them regularly pisses on the floor of their home because "she was too tired to make it to the toilet that time" and the boyfriend then cleans up her piss. I kekked out loud when I heard that one.

I had this shit. My initial covid infect was literally nothing but Out of nowhere I got central sleep apnea for like 2 months and wanted to literally kill myself from lack of sleep. Was in the ER 4 times in June

Dunno. I had covid. Lost my taste for 6 months. Onion&garlic tasted putrid for 12 months and i had bad shits for another 6 months. If it wasnt "long" covid idk what it is but it was clearly something lol. Yes i didnt get vaxxed. And yes I havent had any issues since. My highly active neighbor (triathlon athlete, was 27 when he got covid) suffered from extreme fatigue for 3 years before it randomly cleared up. Not sure why people pretend long covid isnt a thing. But all I know its clear for me that covid was man made and for sure not fake.

It's more like the new chronic lyme disease. For every one person who has long term symptoms that can be attributed to an illness there are hundreds if not thousands more who blame every little problem they have on it. Usually hypochondriacs and women who think their doctors are wrongly ignoring them.

Geeze, that's a lot of ADENINE (A) nucleotides—I don't think that's just random. I would guess that it's either an artifact of the sequencing process, or there is some underlying biological reason.

Covid aftereffects are weird. I was getting over a case of covid and then suddenly, on day 11 after feeling much better, THEN I suddenly lost my sense of smell when I had previously kept it throughout the infection. On the same day, I started having panic attacks. Which was very strange, because I've never had anxiety before and my logical brain knew nothing was wrong by my emotional responses were doing everything possible to convince me that I was in danger or about to die from some medical complication.

I had the anxiety attacks for like 8 months before they finally went away, and I caught covid before there even was a vax available.

I've been recovering from long covid for the past 18 months, AMA.

Specifically the dysautonomia variant - fucked up my heart, blood pressure, temperature regulation, etc. My suspicion is autonomic nerve damage and blood vessel injury. I didn't really get the me/cfs type, but it is absolutely real as fuck, turned my life into an absolute nightmare getting tortured by my own body. Doing a lot better these days.
>28m
>Unvaxxed
>Fit and manual job before illness

The lack of a consistent biomarker does not mean they're absent, I had some weird oddities in my blood panels. They're just not consistent between patients and they all have different symptom presentations. Long covid is rather a set of different bodily fuckups rather than one single one. Let me assure you, it is unbelievably real and horrific to experience. I have stared death in the face like a dozen times this year, paramedics thought they were dealing with a pulmonary embolism lol.

Caught corona years after the outbreak, knocked me out flat for 5 days. Could barely taste anything and I could only smell the blood that is/was in my nose.
Over those 5 days I could only sleep for about 30 minutes at a time.
Recovered from the immediate effects of it by next week, the smell and taste a couple months later. What I did end up with is a snoring problem. Apparently I could wake the dead.

Have you tried upping your caffeine dosage to 500+mg a day?
>>
>>541582351
Also I don't communicate or associate with other long covid sufferers because the memes about them being depressed, defeatist, lazy crazy cat ladies who want to turn their illness into their identity are 100% true. I want my life back, so I've been rehabbing like crazy. Last severe flare I had was idiopathic anaphylaxis, but that was a while ago, hopefully my mast cells have stabilised by now.

I've been on sick leave from the post office for 4 years because of long covid.
>>
>>541582351
In case it helps, a lot of long covid symptoms seems to be caused by inflammation responses triggering in different parts of the body. This is why the symptoms can be so weird and scattershot, its all a question of where the inflammation is happening.
It might not help you, but look into some anti-inflammatory remedies. NSAIDs are a bit rough on your system to be taking every day, but something like Tumeric is safe and can reduce inflammation.
Its not going to magically cure anything, but if it reduces your symptoms at all it can't hurt to try it.
>>
>>541582496
I did try caffeine, initially it made me wayyyy worse. Annoyingly, the reason I took it was to up my heart rate and blood pressure, but it had absolutely zero effect whatsoever. It was pretty scary, I would run up a few flights of stairs and my heart rate would just sit at 45bpm doing nothing, feeling like my heart was just giving up, I'd have to lie down to be able to breathe and see in colour again. Nowadays I can drink caffeine normally again, thank God.

Other things I tried for anyone curious;
>Nicotine - didn't do much
>Thiamine - helped a bit
>Krill oil - helped a lot with mast cell reactivity/histamine problems
>Various other supplements - didn't find anything particularly effective.
> Acupuncture and TCM - weirdly made it worse
>Homeopathy - surprisingly effective, but improvements usually followed by awful rebounds
Probably a bunch of other stuff I've forgotten, I threw the kitchen sink at this

Longcovid is LOOOOOOOOOONG
>>
>>541582726
I think you're absolutely right and I appreciate the sentiment. I agree with the generalised inflammation, though luckily my CRP wasn't too bad - my LDL was unusually high in isolation, so the cardiologist suspected some kind of metabolic or mitochondrial dysfunction, but he said it should heal in a totally of 18 months to 2 years.

My current pet theory is that the most common denominator with long covid inflammation is zinc:copper dysregulation, especially low zinc and/or copper toxicity. Heavily implicated in TH1-TH2 immune response modulation and liver clearance (need zinc for glutathione production, for example, not just NAC). Stress, active lifestyles and low dietary intake are the main causes of zinc deficiency, and obviously in young men especially, jorking the hog far too much. I've been supplementing ionic zinc along with organ meats for trace copper and selenium, and it has definitely made a positive difference.
>>
>>541583095
Interesting, though that raises the question of whether the zinc deficiency is the core cause or merely a knockon effect from the long covid impacting your liver function first through some other means. Obviously you have to treat it either way to bring your levels back up, but its a matter of treating symptoms vs causes.
>>
>>541582351
try taking anti-histamines if you have not done so already... also, chew on some turmeric root.
>>
>>541583470
I think it's a bit of both. The initial infection is probably harsher on people with slightly lower zinc, and then in turn the more virulent resulting immune response basically burns up the last of the body's remaining zinc, as well vitamins C, D, B1, B2, B6 and B12 (all of which are necessary for the krebs cycle, glycolysis, citric acid cycle, etc). Can't make ATP if your cells have been one-shotted by a bio weapon and your enzymes are defunct. Even simple stuff like carbonic anhydrase can't exist without a zinc molecule to bind around, so it could explain the weird air hunger suffocation that long covid patients describe, myself included.

All speculation, but I figure mine is as good as anyone else's at this point. There's a whole gut dysbiosis angle too, covid seemingly lingers in the gut acting almost like a bacteriophage and destroying all your bifido, many strains of which are essential for clearing histamine and maintaining gut tight junction integrity.
>>
>>541583688
Checked, Hello Luci, have the /div/ jannies let you back on yet? Hope you're well.

Antihistamines helped immensely the first time I tried them but then my symptoms all came back catastrophically bad after about 3 days of dosing, so I put them aside. I figure most OTC antihistamines only block H1 receptors, so the body overproduces mediators in response to compensate, causing rebound effects. I was planning to experiment woth Boswellia as a 5-LOX inhibitor, but I'm in a better position now and don't want to fuck it up too badly with experimentation.
>>
>>541583470
Forgot to add, might be of interest to you, one of the first signs of zinc deficiency is reduced or absent smell and taste, especially if chronic.
>>
There was some other study that found out that majority of people that have long covid has some history of mental illness and/or are women

I believe "Long-covid" falls into 2 categories.
>those who got vaxxed but can't accept it caused damage and now call it long-covid
>those who had weak immune systems and covid was the straw that broke their back and so their body ended up failing in some area and they got some kind of condition afterwards, alternatively they already had health issues and covid brought them to surface just like any other viral infection could
