I believe they greatly exaggerate its speed but it's a formidable weapon nevertheless.
Most of the time it will cruise the oceans slowly and inaudibly and only accelerate if attacking a carrier group or port or canal or coastal city.
>>
>>541583758
sounds like made up russian bullshit
No one believes it and no one cares. Putin's "red lines" are long crossed, and shat on. The response is really telling. All they can do is bomb some commie apartment blocks in Kiev and die by the thousands for a few meters in some village in Donbas.
This war will be the ultimate humiliation and the end of Russia. Pajeet tier morons.

There is no doubt that they have the means and the technical experience to produce doomsday weapons like this. Just like with SSBNs the purpose of Poseidon is nuclear second-strike capability, deterrence i.e., but much, much cheaper than SSBNs.
>>
>>541583758
Why don't they do this just for fun?
>>
>>541584472
I can imagine that it won't have a steam machine (this being deliberate disinformation) but an electric engine, making it a lot slower but nearly inaudible.
It could also rest on the bottom of the ocean and only get activated by some signal of the "dead hand".
>>
imagine 15 cubic miles of ocean instantly evaporating right of your coast and the amount of ocean that rushes in to fill the void. it would be biblical
>>
>>541585009
from the nuclear reactor to the propeller you need some turbine even to transform steam pressure to electricity, so once you have that, no need to go through electricity, you can directly power the shaft.

>>541584366

It's not that formidable because it doesn't even exist. Neither does Sarmat, or most of Russias wunderwaffen. They have neither the technology, know how or money to make these kinds of weapons and there isn't a single speck of evidence anywhere they exist at all.

As for the physics behind this weapon. It's just Russia smelling it's own farts again. 100 megatons isn't enough to create much more than a big splash. It wouldn't even create a wave. Even 1000 megatons wouldn't.
Infact, the amount of energy needed to generate a 500 meter tall wave is so fucking insane just the explosion alone would wipe out all of Europe and most of western Russia as well. Moscow would vanish if such a weapon existed and was detonated anywhere near the UK.
>>
>>541583876
i think people fail to realise how much water is in the ocean and how heavy it is and the incredible amount of energy required to move it.
>>
>>541586032

The 2004 Indonesian tidal wave, which peaked at around 30 meters tall and only killed around 220,000 people requires an earthquake that measured a 9.2 on the richter scale.
That is about equivalent to a 67 gigaton explosion. Even if you detonated every single nuclear weapon on the planet, you'd only get a fraction of that sort of energy.

>been stuck in a war against the poorest, most corrupt European country
Anon, it's NATO with Ukrainian meat. Ukraine pretty much triggered NATO's article 5. They've been trained and armed with all that NATO can provide, which includes intelligence. If you think Finland would receive, if we were attacked, anything more than Ukraine has, you're delusional. The Ukrainian's were not exactly copacetic with the coup, especially in the east.
>In 2014, the European Parliament deployed election observation delegations to oversee both the early presidential election on May 25 and the early parliamentary elections on October 26, integrating its teams into the larger OSCE/ODIHR International Election Observation Mission (IEOM). The presidential delegation, led by Göran Färm, and the parliamentary delegation, led by Andrej Plenkovic, assessed the processes as largely compliant with international standards and democratic commitments despite the challenging security environment.

Azov battalion, which was funded and trained by the West, overthrew the government and installed a junta, with a US appointed puppetmaster. They did the same shit in Syria with ISIS, and ended up installing a previously $10mil award villain Al-Julani as its leader. It never ends well with these nation building adventures. Ukraine's going to turn to shit and Syria's going to be in perpetual conflict with Israel. The US can barely keep itself together, how will they manage all the threads they've tangled. Headless chicken.
>>
>>541589567
>it happened far underwater
>what if we put it closer to the surface
then it goes up and out you fucking retard = big splash no tsunami and it's far too weak anyway.

the idea is to cause a tsunami by detonating it below water against the cliff, not detonate a nuke above the surface. But even with 100 MT it isn't possible.

Nuclear weapons are real, but I think you're more or less right. I haven't done the math but the ton or so of nuclear material used to generate the detonation would mostly be used up by the fission/fusion reaction itself, and the wave would probably be less than half a kilometer tall. People tend not to realize that increasing the yield of a nuclear weapon only increases its blast radius by the inverse square of the yield. This is not to imply that nukes aren't insanely powerful weapons, but the difference in actual effect between a hundred megaton nuke and a 20 megaton nuke is not as much as you'd intuitively think.

To be honest it took me ages to understand the british play in the ukraine war.
It blew my mind talking with bong glows (suspected) here years ago.

>>
>>541583758

>>
>>541587446
100 megatons and even only a fraction of it is more than enough to take out whole carrier groups and ports. Russian propaganda of course exaggerates the effects on large coastal cities for reasons of deterrence. One purpose of such weapons is to drive up the cost of effective defense against them, way beyond the cost of developing, building and maintaining them. Autonomous doomsday torpedoes are much cheaper than SSBNs and easier to hide. They don't replace but complement Russia's second-strike capability.

You are bad at math. Earthquakes are orders of magnitude more powerful than the nuke and the tsunami wavefront isn't high at all (still destructive, but we're considering that Earthquakes are 10^3 times the power of these supposed nukes).

Also if you had any understanding of nuclear physics you'd find that radioactive wastewater isn't as harmful, detonating these "fake nukes" in the upper atmosphere or in the sea does not produce dangerous isotopes.

Ground blasts are far deadlier, since radioisotopes of absorbable minerals are formed in these blasts. It can render a land useless for decades especially if done in a mountain as dietary minerals flow from mountains into plains, and it gets in our food that way.

> A torpedo is the worst way to launch a fucking nuke.
Yes, it is, but it's another angle of attack that you either decide to specifically defend against or just ignore depending on how much resources you are willing to allocate or how much damage you are willing to take if you don't. It's not easy to detect and stop. This requires considerable means. It would wait on the bottom of the ocean for some carrier group to come along and jump at it. Maybe even simultaneously with dozens of decoys to confuse defense. It's not radio controlled. You can't jam it. It doesn't need to hit any ship. It just needs to detonate under the carrier group.

The Russians love producing fan-fiction about their latest wonder weapon that's supposed to deliver them an easy victory. They also did this at the start of the Ukraine war with some new combat vehicle that was supposed to mogg all the Western tanks but got immediately destroyed (forgot the name). When you watch Russian news channels, they also show advertisments of a humanoid robots dodging artillery fire while carrying equipment in a trench. A bomb that big would punch into last layer of Earth's atmosphere and cause what is known as the pancake effect. Essentially it would run out of air to expand upwards and would instead expand dozens of miles outward. I don't know what the effect would be since it's all theoretical but the very thought of a bomb so big it has to expand outward because there's no air for it to expand upwards is a wee bit scary.

>Russia has historically exempted or largely avoided drafting residents from the Chechen Republic into its regular military service due to political sensitivities, security concerns, and Moscow's limited direct control over the region

>Sporadic Resumptions: Limited attempts to reintroduce conscription occurred in small numbers—such as token drafts in 2001, 2013, and a larger resumption of several hundred conscripts around 2014—though these remained heavily restricted compared to the rest of Russia.

>Ramzan Kadyrov and Local Control

>Autonomous Control: Under Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, the republic operates with a high degree of autonomy regarding federal mandates.

>Draft Exemptions: Kadyrov has frequently bypassed or publicly stated exemptions for his region from broader federal mobilization and conscription drives (such as during the partial mobilization announcements for the war in Ukraine), preferring instead to rely on voluntary recruitment, local security forces, and specialized volunteer battalions loyal personally to his regime rather than standard conscript pipelines.

Tldr, chechens do what they want. Their only military units are filled with volunteers and they don't see combat. They just do tiktok, and military police stuff, beating slavics from backing off the front and stealing their goods sent by their families

It’s that simple
Then peace terms can be discussed

so your genocidal pedorussian regime can deport the remaining local people to Siberia? Even the traitorous pidors from there realize that's what russia has done to Donbas. Even Tsarev got disillusioned with the pidorussian occupation of the region.

The Russians experimented with communism for 70 years and suffered catastrophic damage because all the dissidents were eliminated - they literally can't think any other way anymore. Picrel.

not even, the 1993 Yeltsin's coup, per russia's OWN constitutional court, made ALL his subsequent orders, including appointing pootin as his successor, illegal. ALL russian governments since the coup of 1993 are all illegitimate and the product of usurpation of power by the former KGB gang of thugs.

>Adapting agriculture to climate catastrophes: the nuclear winter case

>Following a nuclear war, destruction would extend well beyond the blast zones due to the onset of a nuclear winter that can devastate the biosphere, including agriculture. Understanding the damage magnitude and preparing for the folly of its occurrence are critical given current geopolitical tensions. We developed and applied a framework to simulate global crop production under a nuclear winter using the Cycles agroecosystem model, incorporating ultraviolet (UV)-B radiation effects on plant growth and adaptive selection of crop maturity types (shorter cycle the lower the temperature). Using maize (Zea maize L.) as a sentinel crop, we found that annual maize production could decline from 7% after a small-scale regional nuclear war with 5 Tg soot injection, to 80% after a global nuclear war with 150 Tg soot injection, with recovery taking from 7 to 12 years. UV-B damage would peak 6–8 years post-war and can further decrease annual maize production by 7%. Over the recovery period, adaptive selection of maize maturity types to track changing temperatures could increase production by 10% compared to a no-adaptation strategy. Seed availability may become a critical adaptation bottleneck; this and prior studies might underestimate food production declines. We propose that adaptation must include the development of Agricultural Resilience Kits consisting of region- and climate-specific seed and technology packages designed to buffer against uncertainty while supply chains recover. These kits would be congenial with the transient conditions during the recovery period, and would also be applicable to other catastrophes affecting food production.

>Six nuclear war scenarios with varying soot injections and a control scenario (table 1) were simulated, driven by the CESM simulated global meteorological conditions [7], with the Whole Atmosphere Community Climate Model version 4 for its atmospheric component, the Community Land Model 4.0 as the land surface model, and the Parallel Ocean Program v2 as the ocean model. Soot transport and removal in CESM is simulated using the Community Aerosol and Radiation Model for Atmospheres , in which soot is treated as fractal particles. The size of particles can change through coagulation and sedimentation and removed through gravitation or precipitation. For the India–Pakistan war scenarios, the soot was injected above individual targeted urban regions. For the global war scenario, soot was injected uniformly over the areas of Russia and the United States. In all scenarios, the soot injection lasts about a week, after the initial disruption on May 15. The spread of soot in the stratosphere, however, is rapid, and can engulf the hemisphere in days or weeks. Thus, the simulation results are not sensitive to the exact locations of soot injection. The control scenario had 19 simulation years, with each simulation year resembling the Year 2000 conditions with some perturbations. The simulated 3h meteorological conditions were aggregated to daily temporal resolution to drive offline Cycles simulations. For details of the CESM simulations refer to [25, 26].

>After soot injection, precipitation, air temperature, and solar radiation decreased immediately compared to the control scenario, making maize harvested areas drier, colder, and darker (figure 1). The meteorological variables were averaged for the global rainfed maize areas, and since the Northern Hemisphere has more area dedicated to maize, the spatially averaged variables are biased showing higher air temperature and solar radiation in the northern summer. The extent and duration of these effects relate to the amount of soot injected. For the most devastating 150 Tg scenario, precipitation and solar radiation decrease by as much as 70% globally, and air temperature drops by over 15∘C a few years after the disruption. Soot in the stratosphere absorbs solar radiation and heats the stratosphere helping deplete O3. Simultaneously, soot absorbs UV-B radiation thus shielding the surface from exposure. In the 5 Tg regional war scenario, the shielding effect of soot dominates soon after the war, reducing UV-B radiation. About one year later, the depletion of O3 and the deposition of the soot allow UV-B radiation to reach the Earth surface at levels above those of the control scenario. UV-B radiation returns to pre-disruption levels after six years. In contrast, in the 150 Tg global war scenario, UV-B radiation initially decreases significantly due to soot absorption, but after six years, UV-B radiation levels surpass the control as soot decreases and the depleted O3 allows the transmission of UV-B radiation. The UV-B levels would peak in Years 8 and 9.
