You could never form a serious political or cultural movement in this era the way they existed from the late 19th century up until the collapse of the USSR.The thing is, the average NPC today just doesn't take politics seriously anymore or possess the attention span or conviction to be part of any serious movement.In the early-to-mid 20th century, you had a bajillion new movements spring up, political artistic cultural etc, all with different goals and aims. Communism, fascism, anarchism, syndicalism, and then in philosophical/artistic terms there were surrealism, existentialism etc etcWhatever you were in the 1920s, left or right or anything inbetween, you had to rely on actual mastery of media manipulation - newspapers, mass rallies, radio, cinema. This is because people actually read books and listened to radio and stuff. People possessed a functional attention span and tool intellectuals/academics as a concept seriously.Nowadays if you tried to form *any* type of serious transformative social movement from scratch, that wasn't just plagiarism of an existing version of the status quo with some slight aesthetic switches, you would have to rely on the 0.01% of the population who still bothers to read books or be dedicated to something that isn't just nihilistic memes and irony because they spend all day scrolling TikTok.There will be no new isms in the 21st century, which means we are in the era of global stagnation.How does /pol/ interpret this?

>>541588496Let me inform you zoomer why nothing is taken seriously. 1. The U.S. (and Western governments) have state surveillance on any political organization on the right. Not only that, but they have feds implanted to encourage of formulate criminal acts to get members in trouble. Sometimes, these feds might not even know each other. 2. Common culture died in the late 00's or so. You see, prior to the internet, everyone more or less experienced things from the top down. You watched most of the same media as everyone around you, and you knew what they knew. You had common experiences you could relate to with one another. People could form ideological and social bonds based on shared lived experience. Everyone is too atomized now. 3. People passionately involved themselves in politics 10 years ago, and then 5 years ago, only for the political class to spit in their face. With the constant threat of harm, and their political champions being cowardly/weak, everyone left or right is simply waiting for an opening politically and/or waiting for boomers to die.
