Unfunded tax cuts, and unsustainable spending on boomer social security, Medicare, Medicaid are the main drivers of the deficit. The solutions are actually very simple to figure out and our politicians know this but cutting bennies and raising taxes are political suicide so this is why we have a huge deficit that won't get fixed until the very last second which is gonna get real ugly for people who fail at saving for retirement or medical expenses.
