Was leftist hero Pablo Neruda a RAPIST? New attention has fallen upon his autobiography, in which he writes about grabbing a Sri Lankan servant girl by the wrist and taking her to his bedroom, where he gave it to her while she was lying silent and motionless. Neruda was Chile's ambassador to British South Asia in the 1920's, and was living in Colombo (British Ceylon/modern Sri Lanka) at the time of the incident.

What does this mean for his legacy, if anything? He also abandoned his retarded daughter and her mom in the 1940's, but that story was already somewhat well-known.
