The PD engine was never and will never be surpassed. Why would you buy a new golf when you can buy a 20 year old golf for £2000 that can run for 1million miles, get better MPG than a new golf and cost pennies to repair. The PD engines even run on waste motor oil and other fuels so you can avoid fuel duties. Even the build quality is better on a 20 year old golf.
