The beyond meat documentary was pretty damaging to their image, showing fake meat was a highly industrial process. Another factor is it's fucking expensive. Lastly it's just not cool/the general population reacted very negatively too it. During 2022 was the biggest push for veganism/bug eating, and the result was people seen it as the wealthy wanting to horde meat for themselves and got angry/rejected it.
