it's not the size, these numbers are kind of retarded, miner gets paid probably x times more in US compared to China and while the same job is done GDP would already be those times more in US, just from mining alone. Same was in USSR, you were paid in currency that was not really exchangable to other currencies so how can you even compare economies that are not interchangable? Maybe it's possible to compare US to other western economies, not much else.

India seems way too high. I went there and it was such an incredibly craphole. I now wish my country was called Chinanesia
>>
>>541635340
fun fact, 20% of canadian GDP is made of overpriced real estate being sold to pajeets, you can remove at least 20% of their gdp if you want more real numbers.

They cook their numbers like the Chinese. Never trust anything indians say. They're desperate for worldwide approval.

>>541635187
So you're saying that when two 50k suv's get into an accident and total each other, necessitating car rentals, scrapping, new car loans/sales, etc. we're not creating 100-150k of value in the form of gdp?
>>
>>541635752
yeah its retarded like that, id imagine new orleans had a nice boost of gdp when the tornado hit and it all had to be rebuilt again.
such a retarded metric kek
>>
>>541635752
Yes, because GDP measures economic activity, not wealth. A car crash creates economic activity, despite reducing wealth.
>>
>>541635396
It's the most populous country in the world. Even if individual Indians aren't particularly productive, GDP is bound to be high just because there's so many of them.

Comparative advantage. China is able to build ships but their jet aircraft are dogshit so they have to buy them all from Europe and the USA

I just don't trust the chink numbers because all their numbers are fudged and tightly controlled by their government ministry of statistics. They're not subject whatsoever to any obligation of honesty and will never publish anything that has any negative connotations. Retarded liberals and academics tend to take everything China releases at face value and act as if China is a role model.
>>

Nominal GDP >>541634917 measures a country's economic output using current market exchange rates, while Purchasing Power Parity (PPP) >>541635189 adjusts that output to reflect local differences in the cost of living.
Use nominal GDP to compare a nation's global influence and PPP to compare nation's living standard.

Yes but there's a lot more analytics and different stats available where researchers can mostly cut through the BS and get a more accurate picture. There's a lot of types of data China does not release compared to western countries.

>>541636994
Yes they do a lot of manufacturing. But guess what else they do? Massive real estate scams where they build clusters of half-finished condo buildings before abandoning them. Literal ghost cities. Chinese citizens pre-paying for these units with their life savings only to be told, "oops lol sorry" and they have no legal recourse. Since everything is state controlled/funded there are opportunities for massive fraud and corner-cutting. At least in America when a condo building is built it properly follows the local building codes, is finished, and has people living in it comfortably.

One of the most disheartening things is going on google maps and looking at the coast of China. Constant construction and industry at a scale 100x of the western and eastern United States.
