The EU wants to show enlargement. There are a dozen countries in the waiting list. Ukraine being the large one, but there is Moldova, North Macedonia, Montenegro Albania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Georgia. Getting a developed western European economy in the geographical west in would show that the becoming an EU member is possible and countries shouldn't give up on negotiations.
Montenegro will likely become EU by 2028.

I agree. I don't mean that all of the countries that I listed should be members. At the current state most are far far away from it. But Iceland? It's a civilized country alright. Their issues are unemployment and inflation. Not high level corruption, poverty and Soviet era infrastructure. Mountains, lavarock and glaciers cover 2/3 of the country. The rest of the soil is so poor we can't grow crops except in very few places.
The early settlers managed to grow a bit for the first 200 years but after that it was only livestock, grass and hay.
Reykjavík feels twice as big as a comparably large city abroad. Country side is split into fishing villages and sheepland.

Genuine question: what the hell is the average "Já" voter thinking? You guys already have all the benefits of being in the EU, none of the downsides, and you smoke us in every category. Why the hell would anyone support entering? You'd just get slapped with a bunch of regulations, third world immigration, censorship and economic stress from being forced to pay for immigrants and third world shitholes.
>>
>>541654994
They said its not a vote to entering, but only "to start negotiations on entering" so a bunch of people fell in the trap of voting yes "to take a peek in the package" even if they aren't even for entering the EU itself
Its a slippery slope
>>
>>541654994
This vote is about whether to start negotiations for a deal for which we could vote on later.
Those who are voting Já, in some cases, think that there isn't a real downside to get peak at a deal. "Já til að sjá", "Yes to see", has been there slogan.
In some cases there are also people that believe our currency is too small and expensive, and think it'll be beneficial to adopt the Euro.
>>
>>541654994
True, but we voted no 2 times and are still a full member without being one, we just pay anf implement their rules like a good goy so it could be worse i guess

>to get peak at a deal.
If you want a peak at the deal, imagine Ursula's boot stamping on your face forever.
>>541655284
>it could be worse i guess
You have no idea. In the last two years they've started going from petty annoyances to make life slightly more miserable to straight up surveillance nightmares and breaches of member countries' constitutional rights because fuck you, that's why. Random example, if your country explicitly negates the existence of gay marriages in its constitution, it is still forced to acknowledge gay marriage because the EU overrules the constitution. Likewise, if your constitution explicitly states that every person has the right to privacy in private correspondence including electronic messages, it's negated by Chat Control scanning all your messages and you can't do shit about it. The EU is above the constitution. And a bunch of other examples.
You would have to be an absolute fool to do this to yourself willingly. Fuck any "deal" they claim to offer, it's a deal with the devil, almost literally.

The Brits joined the EU but then they left the EU, joining was a mistake and leaving was a mistake too so now they are even more fucked, I sure hope Iceland stays clear of this huge pitfall
Even just going into the negotiations and not actually joining means wasting a heap of money and the government here will be focusing more on the negotiations leaving other matters unattended which should rather be focused on

>what has been the experience in your country with the euro?
Great Leader famously said that the only possible price increase might be coffee going up 2 cents.
Anyway, a beer on a night out used to cost 1.30€ and now it's 3-4€ depending on the location.
Bread used to cost 40 cents for 1kg, now it's 1.60€ for 400-500 grams.
Ice cream used to cost 25 cents a pop, now it's 2 euros.
My rent went from 300 euros to 650 euros.
Bills are through the roof, and we have been notified about an incoming 150% increase in gas prices this fall.
Our inflation rate is constantly around 5% per month, the highest in the EU.
And my monthly paycheck went from 900 euros to about 1180 euros, give or take a few.
So, in other words, we got rekt.

British elite accelerated immigration that's true, and they got even worse immigrants in the end, but at least they are being forced by their own government and not a foreign union, now all they have to do is have a proper party winning enough seats, if they fail it's on them.
However blaming American or Russian propaganda is just such a cheap play, the EU made itself hateable and I don't need any propaganda to be convinced of it when I keep running into issues created by the EU in my life.
Everyone signed on a economic pact originally to prevent another destructive war, to make our economies tightly tied together, not mandates from foreigners interfering in ones country.
If you were truly a patriot or nationalist you'd stop shilling for something that will, if successful, wipe out any unique culture and country in Europe within the next 500 years, federalisation is their end goal, and I know what happened to the Bretons, Occitans, Picards and more after a higher government oppressed their language in the name of centralisation, and still does to this day.

Simple enough, USSR had a hardon for those niggers and mass imported them for unknown reasons, and after it collapsed those fled over to Finland(because neighbouring border) and Sweden because Sweden had a socialist streak going at the time. Then they called in their families and bred more, while also moving over to Norway because those were wealthy as fuck due oil.

Gool place, I actually like the EU even though it needs fixes (people here hate it because MAGA, Chinese, Russians and their migrants in the west make a huge part of /pol/) and having a cool country to join is cool.

But not with these proportions. The might grow resented of us and us tired. Why risking a relationship that is now fine if the population there isn't overwhelmingly in favour.

Já Nei heatmap. City Já. Country side Nei

Dude the UK is invaded by people from India, Pakistan, etc. They all kept importing them on their own. Also a lot of Chinks that hate everyone. Have you fucking been to any major British city?

As for the other, projections.

The No side is gaining in Reykjavik, which has reported a seemingly disproportionate amount.
I think No will win.

>Fish should always be pan-fried with lots of butter.
Dangerously based.
Maybe I should get a summer job as a chef around the Nordic countries. The money I'd make taking you lads to flavortown from June to September, oh man.
Hell, with that kind of money, I'd even be able to afford a week at the Croatian seaside, probably.
>>541658317
>people here hate it because MAGA, Chinese, Russians and their migrants
Yeah nah, take your meds.
All of those three are shit, and the EU is rapidly approaching China levels of distopian nightmare with a side of Russia thrown in. MAGA doesn't even merit a response, they're the world's largest special ed class.
EU shills never have any concrete arguments. They can only spew "but ur country get monies!!11!!1" at eastern Europeans sometimes. Guess what amount of money I'd give up my personal freedoms for? That's right, I wouldn't, no matter the number. Not like it matters, though, since they are being methodically stripped away regulation by regulation.

You might as well come to terms with it
Btw I live in the ninth biggest city

I think this vote will be a watershed moment, the EU will be a miserable husk in 15 years
>>
>>541658314
And Hungary was punished for it, the EU withheld funds & fined them.
Now if we did the same I don't know how that would work, cause we're a net contributor, so that's uncharted waters yet, but if we were to do the same they would definitely try to punish us.
>>541658422
If you don't want "projections" don't start it.
But the UK I've already mentioned here >>541657517
They're out of the EU, now it's up to them to change their government that keeps inviting niggers.
>>
>>541658614
You want an argument in favour of the EU? Leverage. Do you think Greenland would have had leverage if Europe hadn't supported them, France hadn't sent their nuclear submarine to Canada as a taunt, etc?

On top of mortage issues faced by people from Iceland.

But as I said I'm not an EU MAGA equivalent, and understand the need to fix things, etc.

I understand not being absurdly hyperbolic here is unpopular. Just today I've seen people suggesting Russia is fine, Millennials are irrelevant and all Americans are stupid.

I remember, it was pretty cheap. The quality of the cuts was drastic though, never any consistency. I think it's coming to end though. They went whaling this summer and I haven't seen a single piece in stores.

And then Orbán lost the election because people thought they would become Switzerland 2.0 if they get the EU gibs. I told them things will only get worse and they wil lget everything bad that Orbán blocked sooner than any benefit, we'll see how it plays out.
>>541658919
>The Nordics are full of other Europeans working for a couple of years
Can't blame them. The temperatures alone justify it. 40 degrees for 3 months straight? No thanks, I'd rather chill with Jens and Sven and come back when going outside doesn't mean instant disintegration in the sun.

>>541658862
I don't want to be ruled by foreigners nor do I want to die knowing that in a few hundred of years EU will eventually centralize enough where it, like all other centralized states in the past, will enforce a uniform culture and language upon my descendants.

When i was like 9 we had an shitskin moving in to my neighborhood and tried to get the old grocery store up and running
First just verbal abuse, then we stole anything not bolted down for a few weeks
Then the older kids stole his car and crashed it into his shop
Then it "accidentally" caught fire one night
He moved

It still baffles me that everyone, absolutely everyone, young and old would rather drive for an hour to another shop, than have a shitskin in the neighborhood in those days and no we are flooded with them

Boiling frog theory in action i guess
Fuck kikes and their propaganda machines

If you truly hated America and MAGA, you would have cherished those moments, considering Europe was on the verge of cutting ties with America. But you love your American daddy, you don't want that divorce.
Isn't it, you stupid bitch?

Hey, sorry. We went from loners, to small groups, to city stares, to nations and now it's the time for larger entities. At some point the concept of foreign may not even exist.

It's a bell curve, some people will always be on the edge of what is considered the norm.

Also.
The TV program is back on track after a short break.
New count coming in a few minutes, I think the last from Reykjavík.
Which means that will be as high for Já tonight as it will get and it'll be downhill for Já from then on.
The last meters will be very exciting.
