I was riding home to work listening to Oingo Boingo, specifically, "We close our eyes" Specifically, specifically, the live version.The whole thing is really theatric and well done. They attempted it several times. I believe it was actually the last leg of their farewell tour. They really bring it all together, accordions, Mardi Gras dress, drama masks, giant dancing skeletons, but, the song itself is what is the best. Danny elfman is a master vocalist and him and the band were incredibly tight. That isn't even talking about, like, renascence art like picrel. I noticed, any browns that make art is usually some subhuman ping pang shit, or, ooga booga music. Browns do have exceptions, but, whites just simp[y seem to be better at it over all. Niggers do have blues and jazz, though and R&B Buit r&B is very prototypical, actually.Hip-hop has a lot of unique caricatures, but, really a lot of it lacks real depth in the art. It's just ooga booga shit at the end of the day.So what's the deal?

>>541660783it's true that jazz was influenced by European classical music, but it also heavily borrows from blues, african and afrocuban traditions, and more recently, Indian classical music (steve coleman). there are a lot of influences, but it is uniquely it's own thing, distinct from classical music. see how horowitz was in awe of art tatum, and recognized that they both did different things. modern jazz musicians (i think of wayne, kenny garrett, joel ross, immanuel wilkins, jason moran) are more strongly influenced by the blues than any classical music. of course jason moran can probably shred bach, and joel ross studied at the new school, but even though they can play classical, what they studied in conservatory is jazz. lot of conservatory jazz musicians study jazz and only touch classical for technique now.the influences on jazz are not that important though. what's more important is what it actually is. jazz is it's own distinct thing.also, a lot of modern music is now based on jazz harmony, which nowadays comes from blues and gospel music. see robert glasper and cory henry, and then listen to olivia rodrigo or clairo or something like that
