Why not just bypass the straight with a series of pipelines?
>>541656186They can still get bombed and they were. But the Saudis closed some kind of secret deal with Iran to not get struck. And then there are the Houthis that cover the Red Sea side, so even if there were more pipelines, they'd still get hit by the Houthis
>>541656186Such thing isn't just build like that, it takes time and money. It's like believing a war can be won just by saying it or open a place just because. It's just pretty stupid
>>541656186They already do but a pipe moves less oil than a fuck-huge tanker
>>541656431>And then there are the Houthis that cover the Red Sea side, so even if there were more pipelines, they'd still get hit by the Houthisyou know the suez canal is right there? they don't have to sail by yemen unless they are going to asia >>541656536build a second pipe

>>541658204
>>541656186i don't think you can build a pipeline through 2 countriesthey would act so jewish with how much fees they'd charge and play off each other that it'd cripple the project
>>541656725Houthis have weapons with enough range to hit beyond their nearby waters. They have drones and missiles, some of them provided by Iran. And Iran is more than capable to strike deep into Saudi Arabia's territory. They did it already.
>>541658245Yeah i know, trust me i hate canada and the people who live here more than anyone
>>541656186They are. Takes time to build. Iran is fucked. Next.
>>541658300Ballistic missiles have long held and economic advantage over counter systems by a large margin. For drones the gap existed but was much smaller. It is the only true inversion of warfare where offensive capability is cheaper than defensive. But that is ending. Targeting and tracking has always accounted for the gap. That is ending. Why do you think the USN is shifting to deck energy weapons? Dirty cheap compared to a missile.
>>541658273>i don't think you can build a pipeline through 2 countriesthe XL pipeline would have gone through the US and CanadaUAE and Oman share a rail system and an electrical grid >>541658300The Suez Canal is at the end of the red sea. how do you think people normally use the suez canal?
>>541656186they already exist retard and they can be bombed
Pipelines take most of a decade to build across any notable stretch of land, might be even longer for these distances. The Strait of Hormuz is an acute crisis that needs solutions this year, it can't be dealt with that way.Even if it could, any pipeline going from the Persian Gulf to anywhere is within range of Iranian missiles. Pipelines would be impossible to fully defend along their whole length. Note that nothing in Iran's range can be fully and completely defended right now. Any hit anywhere along a pipeline's length ruins the entire pipeline until repaired. So this plan would be entirely reliant on Iran consenting to lose their Hormuz leverage by not striking the pipeline.Even if they'd built a pipeline 20 years ago, it would right now be leaking after getting hit in half a dozen spots during the initial Iranian barrage.
>>541656431Because then you force Iran to escalate to attacks on oil infrastructure, leaving them open to retaliatory attacks on their infrastructure. Infrastructure MAD has spared both sides this time.
>>541658800>hy do you think the USN is shifting to deck energy weapons? They've been talking about these for over a decade and they're still nowhere to be seen.
>>541659029>memeflagyou are indian
>>541656186They already do, but as you can probably imagine fossil fuel is just one part of the story.Iran really fucked up in not only trying to turn its tacit ownership of the trait into explicit ownership, but even moreso in bothering the Red Sea, which is a far bigger prize serving actual great powers.Had they kept their Houthi pets in check people would have likely continued on whatevering about their de facto control over the strait, now though their ass has been broken open with a crowbar and Americans are ensuring anyone who wants to make use of that can.
>>541656186They could be destroyed.I'm surprised SA even bothered building them desu. They're betting on escalations not reaching that point. And if they're wrong, they lose all of their investment. And it's not just the pipelines that are vulnerable, but the oil wells themselves. What good is a pipeline with no input? Also you need multiple pipelines for different kinds of fluids. Different kinds of crudes and gas are exported as different products. A lot of refined products are being exported too. If they were exported through the strait and you want to bypass it they'd need their own pipelines. That's a lot of pipelines to build just on the supposition that Iran wouldn't dare.Maybe they could accept blending their crudes. Or develop some technology to share the pipeline somehow. But it would have a cost.
>>541656186It would be easier to make peace with Iran despite Israel screeching.
>>541659500yeah I would think that fucking with the red sea would be an invitation for literally everyone to bomb them
>>541659448You don't get it, that's on you. Go build a pipeline to wherever, it's going to get threatened one way or another. It doesn't solve the problem which is us/israeli aggression. If anything the gulf states SHOULDN'T build pipelines as it might give the next retard the belief he can bomb iran without consequences because muh pipelines. As of now, the oil in the red sea terminals goes on smaller ships and north through suez or it goes to the sumed pipeline in egypt which has a limit of 2.5 million bpd and they load in the mediterranean. Yanbu is pumping at 4-5 million bpd and the houthis are forcing the ships around africa if they want to transport to asia. In the second quarter saudi arabia pumped ~6.5 million bpd of crude, their average over 2023-2025 was 9-10 million, 2025 being higher on average. Also, if everyone just "bypassed" and another war started, then its likely iran would just hit these pipelines or their export terminals with massive attacks to take them out and force the hormuz issue again. Look on the map how close iran is to UAE and check out a satellite picture of the fujairah terminals, they aren't hardened targets. Iran can knock out millions more capacity fairly easily.
>>541659500The houthi pet is the checkmate though. They're dug in, they can selectively target anyone they want, and the threat never goes away. Saudi arabia is beyond stupid for letting america tell them to bomb the airport, just for the houthis to close the bab al mandeb to their ships. Remember the red sea isn't closed, it's closed to the people threatening yemen and iran. On top of this, the houthis keep bombing saudi oil ships and infrastructure from miles away and iran doesn't have to take the blame.

>>541660052>solve the problem which is us/israeli aggressionThe problem is that Islam is an aggressive death cult. The problem is that Iran thinks it's a regional power. Iran is angry because it hardly holds Tehran.>iran would just hit these pipelinesPipelines are easy to repair.>>541660194>iran doesn't have to take the blame.Trump stopped this. If Houthis attack anyone then Iran will get lit up. It's easier to kill Iranian leadership than deal with the Houthis. The Iranian leadership plan seems to be hiding in tunnels for the next few decades.
>>541660619>The problem is that Iran thinks it's a regional power. If iran blows up the global hegemon's bases and radars then closes 2 international shipping zones, then yes they are a regional power. That's the definition of a regional power, defending your own territory against a bigger power and controlling the seas near you.>Pipelines are easy to repair. Why go for the pipeline though? Go for pumping stations and the export terminals themselves. Fujairah is connected by a pipeline but the pipeline isn't that valuable if you can't export the oil and the terminal sits on the arabian sea completely exposed.>If Houthis attack anyone then Iran will get lit up.Nonsense, the houthis are constantly fighting with the saudis now, hitting ships and oil depots.
>>541656186Why not just blow up the pipelines with drones or missiles?

>>541656186I have a better Idea, USA should carpet bomb a trench into existence that gets turned into a canal all the way to med seaIt would be cheaper than whatever the fuck they are doing now and it would make the military israel complex and israel rich like they already want
>>541656186A series of tubes you mean?
>>541660619>The problem is that Islam is an aggressive death cult.Totally unlike the primary Western Abrahamic religions, Judaism and Christianity (in that order).
>>541665691>USA should carpet bomb a trench into existence that gets turned into a canal all the way tooy vey! stop with antisemitism!
>>541656186>Costs billions and takes years to build, which makes this useless to deal with Iran now anyway>Only SA and UAE can build pipes without going through at least two countries, which means you need someone else's permission to sell oil, which is already the case now with Iran>Iran can and will bomb your pipelines if they think it's a threat>Puts the oil farther away from Asia and closer to Europe, which may be a good or bad thing>To get it out of the Red Sea, you'd have to pass the Houthis, who are aligned with Iran anyway
>>541656431Iran going and bombing pipelines particularly if the US has mostly checked out of the reason is just regional terrorism desu. China and Russia aren't going to back that.
>>541667463good morning, saar!>>541667571>520>>541667587>>To get it out of the Red Sea, you'd have to pass the Houthis, who are aligned with Iran anywaythe suez canal exists
>>541659016There's pipelines between the US and Canada that go through both countries. Lots of pipelines cross national boundaries. Fees are decided on based on risk etc before construction. This is the non-gay globohomo part of free trade. The gay part is cheap labour undercutting well paid labour. This where tariffs are supposed to exist to raise all boats (for workers, not just capital and "consumers").
>>541667633*region not reason.
>>541656186its more expensive less efficient oh wait
>>541656186Uhhm, what do you think the internet is?
They already exist and they're building more. They'll be ready in a year or two. Iran is fucked in the long term. They overplayed their hand and should have accepted a deal back in July.
>>541667644To get oil from SA to China without passing the Strait of Hormuz or the Houthis, you'd have to pipe it across the country, then go through the Suez Canal (paying a fee to Egypt), then go through the Mediterranean, then go around Africa, then reach Saudi Arabia again, just to be at where you would have started had Iran not been a problem in the first place. It would inflate the cost of sending oil to Asia by an incredible amount just by the shipping alone, never mind the fees to Egypt.
>>541667673Canada and the US usually have aligned interests (recent stuff notwithstanding), so even though there's a power imbalance, Canada rarely has to worry about having its economy threatened by the US to extort concessions. That's not the case for Bahrain, Iraq, Kuwait, and Qatar, which are not aligned with SA, but would have to rely on SA's goodwill to let them pipe oil, and even then the oil would be piped to SA ports. To rely on SA this way would be to subordinate their sovereignty to it.
>>541658414That's because you're a sheltered child and you don't actually know much of anybody, or anything
>>541667764True.
There are 500B barrels of oil in Antarctica. They should drill there and forget about the Middle East
>>5416561861. Low capacity, pipelines aren't efficient 2. Who would invest to create a multinational pipeline that everyone in the region full of bombs would want to bomb? Who would buy a flammable, stationary target in Arabia? 3. Inland Oman is the rebel controlled. 4. That is a big investment for something that will just be useless if/when the straitussy is opened.
>>541667644You'll have to try harder than that, Eglin.

>>541656186It takes a lot of time and money to build the required infrastructure. Most people expected and still expect the situation to be a short lived disruption so they don't think building it is worth it and hasn't even started.
>>541656186Yes, great idea. And use nukes to dig out the earth with unprecedented speed and ease.
It’s all bullshit theater a distraction from our eminent destruction. It’s well known that there are massive underground tunnels connecting every major city by high speed magnetic train.
>>541656186>build pipeline>spend tens of millions of shekels on it>flex, acting real cool>oil flowing>suddenly>$12k Iranian kamakazi drone>multiple even>slam into different sections>pissing huge puddles of oil everywhere>tens of millions to fixHMMM i wonder y tho
>>541656186Isn't there a fucking mountain range right in that spot?
>>541667990Do you know how much crude oil a VLCC tanker carries you fucking retard? You would need multiple fucking pipelines. It would take fucking years to build. And Iran can just fire missiles at that too.You can’t missile proof the entire planet. Trump is finally learning that. He keeps telling people the Strait is open, but the insurance companies don’t believe him. The tankers won’t travel without insurance, so the insurance companies call the shots, not Trump. One missile fired at a VLCC is $1bil down the shitter. Can’t put a Patriot System on every oil tanker.
