If you've been following this stuff, you know Trump is speaking more horseshit. Not because Venezuelan oil is unrefineable garbage. It's because it will take billions of dollars and years of capital deployment to get to that oil. Venezuela is also politically unstable and US oil companies have shown serious reluctance to make big investments. Meanwhile the US already uses around 90% of its refining capacity. The global oil markets are under severe strain that will only continue as the Iran situation goes on. China will also be spending to refill their own reserves at some point. So maybe in a few years, let's say Venezuela outputs 10x the oil they do now. That will barely touch the increase in global demand by that time. The drawdown on the SPR has also been enormous, and it will take a lot of excess oil sloshing about in the system to refill at a reasonable price without spiking prices later. This is an absolute clusterfuck, and even if Hormuz opens 100% today, it will take years to recover from this mess. Everything with this orange retard is a lie and a disaster.
